Job summary

Bo/Gar Enterprises seeks a Quality Technician in Victoria, TX to inspect parts and verify they meet customer specifications and blueprints. You will use a ZEISS CMM with CALYPSO for dimensional inspections and maintain quality records in a cross‑functional team environment.

You will read blueprints, apply GD&T knowledge, and perform first‑piece to final inspections while supporting deburring and wash‑bay tasks as needed. A high school diploma is required; prior CMM experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and completed parts to verify compliance with blueprints and quality requirements.
  • Operate the ZEISS CMM using CALYPSO software to perform dimensional inspections.
  • Load and position parts on the CMM, run inspection programs, review results.
  • Inspect CMM probes and styli for damage and report equipment concerns.
  • Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.).
  • Read and interpret blueprints and tolerances; complete inspections as assigned.
  • Record inspection results and maintain quality documentation.
  • Identify nonconforming parts and report per procedures.
  • Communicate inspection results to Quality, Production, and operators.
  • Assist in determining root causes of dimensional or quality issues.
  • Maintain calibration and cleanliness of inspection equipment.

This position is located in Victoria, Texas. We work in a temperature-controlled environment, provide excellent benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, Paid Time Off, and a 100% company-funded ESOP retirement plan.


The Quality Technician inspects manufactured parts to verify they meet customer specifications, blueprint requirements, and company quality standards. This position uses precision measuring instruments, including a ZEISS Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) with CALYPSO software, to perform dimensional inspections and document results.


The Quality Technician works closely with the Quality and Production departments to identify and communicate quality concerns. This position may also assist with deburring, washing, and preparing completed parts for shipment as production needs require.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and completed parts to verify compliance with blueprints, customer specifications, and quality requirements.

  • Operate the ZEISS Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) using CALYPSO software to perform dimensional inspections.

  • Load and properly position parts on the CMM, select and run established inspection programs, and review inspection results.

  • Inspect CMM probes and styli for damage and report equipment concerns.

  • Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, and other inspection tools.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, dimensional tolerances, and inspection requirements.

  • Complete first-piece, in-process, and final inspections as assigned.

  • Record inspection results accurately and maintain required quality documentation.

  • Identify parts that do not meet specifications and follow established procedures for reporting and controlling nonconforming material.

  • Clearly communicate inspection results and quality concerns to Quality personnel, supervisors, and machine operators.

  • Assist Production with determining possible causes of dimensional or quality issues.

  • Verify that required inspection paperwork and part documentation are complete and accurate.

  • Maintain inspection equipment and keep the Quality Lab clean and organized.

  • Follow calibration requirements and report damaged, inaccurate, or overdue inspection equipment.

  • Assist at the burr bench with deburring and finishing parts as needed.

  • Assist in the Wash Bay with washing, drying, and preparing parts for shipment when coverage is needed.

  • Handle parts carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or mixing of materials.

  • Follow all company safety, quality, and work procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints.

  • Understanding of dimensional tolerances and basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.

  • Basic knowledge of CMM operation or the ability to learn.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to recognize and clearly communicate quality concerns.

  • Ability to complete inspection records and other documentation accurately.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to assist in other areas based on production needs.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous quality inspection or machine shop experience preferred.

  • Experience operating a CMM and using CALYPSO software preferred but not required. Training may be provided to a qualified candidate.

  • Blueprint-reading and GD&T experience preferred.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to handle parts and measuring equipment.

  • Ability to lift and move parts weighing up to 40 pounds; assistance or lifting equipment must be used for heavier parts.

  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements.

  • Visual ability sufficient to inspect parts, read blueprints, and accurately use measuring equipment.

  • Ability to work in both a climate-controlled Quality Lab and a manufacturing environment.

  • This position works in both a Quality Lab and an active machine shop. The employee may be exposed to noise, metalworking fluids, cleaning solutions, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. Wear required personal protective equipment as applicable.
