This position is located in Wyoming, Illinois. We work in a temperature-controlled environment, provide excellent benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, Paid Time Off, and a 100% company-funded ESOP retirement plan.

The CNC Operator is responsible for safely operating one or more CNC machines to manufacture precision parts in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, quality standards, and production requirements. Operators may be assigned to various CNC equipment, including CNC lathes, vertical mills, horizontal mills, or other production equipment based on operational needs. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, and a commitment to producing quality products while meeting production expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate assigned CNC equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Load and unload raw materials, workpieces, fixtures, and finished parts.
  • Read and follow manufacturing travelers, work orders, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure product quality and production efficiency.
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Verify part counts and maintain accurate production records.
  • Deburr parts using hand tools and deburring knives.
  • Operate hand drills, pneumatic tools, and other hand tools as required.
  • Identify and report quality concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area using established housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain established production and quality expectations.
  • Cross-train and operate other production equipment as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, Quality, Maintenance, and fellow team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to accurately count parts and complete production documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing travelers, work instructions, and blueprints.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and scales.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to recognize quality defects and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing production priorities.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous CNC machining experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

The employee must be able to:
  • Stand and walk for the majority of an 8- to 10-hour work shift.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach while performing job duties.
  • Frequently grip, grasp, pinch, squeeze, and perform repetitive hand and finger movements.
  • Frequently rotate and flex the wrists while operating machinery and using hand tools.
  • Perform repetitive upper extremity movements throughout the work shift.
  • Regularly use hand tools including deburring knives, files, hand drills, pneumatic tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Frequently lift and carry materials, finished parts, tooling, or containers weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Frequently push and pull carts, fixtures, raw materials, or equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Load and unload materials into and from CNC equipment throughout the work shift.
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to:
  • Moving mechanical equipment
  • Forklift and material handling traffic
  • Metal chips and sharp edges
  • Cutting fluids, coolants, oils, and lubricants
  • Dust and airborne particles
  • Moderate to high noise levels

Required personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Additional PPE as required by company policy
The essential functions of this position include:
  • Safely operating CNC production equipment.
  • Producing quality parts that meet customer and engineering specifications.
  • Performing required quality inspections.
  • Handling raw materials and finished products.
  • Accurately completing required production documentation.
  • Following all safety, quality, and company policies.
  • Maintaining regular, reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Working overtime when required to meet production demands.
