Job summary

Nucor, North America's leading steelmaker, is seeking a Quality Technician to perform routine quality inspections across the production process. You will use precision tools to verify dimensions, conduct calibrations, and support audits and corrective actions to uphold quality and safety standards.

Safety comes first: you will lead and uphold safety policies, ensuring operations remain compliant while maintaining high product quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an Inspection or Quality Assurance professional.
• Basic mathematical concepts are required.
• Ability to read a measuring tape and interpret measurements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is expected.
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints and draft reports.

Responsibilities

• Report daily FPY (First Pass Yield) to the Supervisor.
• Investigate root causes of quality issues and document findings.
• Conduct daily audits across departments.
• Develop and maintain inspection reports for the company.
• Ensure products meet quality and safety standards.

Basic Job Functions:

The Quality Technician is responsible for conducting routine quality inspections throughout the production process, including in-process and final product inspections, to ensure products meet established quality standards and specifications. This position utilizes a variety of precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify product dimensions, workmanship, and compliance with applicable requirements. The Quality Technician is also responsible for performing equipment calibrations, workstation audits, and quality checks, identifying discrepancies or nonconforming conditions, and supporting corrective actions to maintain consistent product quality.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Job Description

• Report Daily FPY (First Pass Yield) to the corresponding Supervisor.
• Investigate and document Root Cause Analysis on Quality issues
• Conduct daily audits in various departments
• Developing and maintaining company inspection reports daily
• Inspecting products according to quality and safety standards.
• Ensuring product complies with company standards as well as customer standards
• Reporting quality anomalies to the supervisor
• Identifying possible areas for improvement in quality control processes
• Document and train employees on faults and corrections
• Ensuring production is not hindered by quality testing procedures
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervision

Minimum Qualifications:

• 1-2 years experience as an Inspection or Quality Assurance
• Understanding of basic mathematical concepts
• Understand and know how to use and read a measuring tape
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook & Excel)
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints
• Experience drafting reports and collating data
• Ability to analyze and interpret technical information

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Graduate/GED or combination of education and experience
• High-level of visual awareness
• Advanced organizational skills
• Ability to work alone with minimal supervision
