Job summary

Printpack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging, seeks entry-level manufacturing production hourly workers at the Rhinelander, WI plant. The Quality Technician role provides hands-on experience with a skilled workforce and a path for rapid advancement.

Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Responsibilities include testing, data entry in PRISM, calibration checks, housekeeping, and following safety protocols. A high school diploma is preferred; manufacturing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand test methods and equipment to perform testing as specified by customers.
• Perform check-out of each job including specifications and jacket.
• Perform visual inspection of samples representing produced material.
• Enter data into PRISM for retention and reporting.
• Perform calibration checks of equipment.
• Create hold tags for defective material and ensure proper identification.
• Daily use of PRISM screens to obtain job/production information.
• Maintain 5S standards and housekeeping.

Job description

Printpack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging products, is seeking qualified candidates to fill entry-level manufacturing production hourly positions in the Rhinelander, WI plant. The Quality Technician position provides a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience working with a skilled workforce all while improving technical & mechanical skills. The Quality Technician position is scheduled for Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

As a Quality Technician, you will:

• Understand appropriate test method and equipment to perform all required testing (and sampling) as specified by internal and external customers
• Perform check-out of each job in Press and Laminating to include specifications, film types, job jacket, etc.
• Perform visual check on all samples representing material produced on shift
• Accurately entering data into PRISM for retention and reporting
• Perform accurate calibration checks of all equipment
• Responsible for creating hold tags for defective material and ensuring rolls are tagged for proper identification
• Daily use of the X-rite software and spectrophotometer
• Maintain department 5S standards including housekeeping and stocking supplies
• Daily filing of job jackets
• Fire Crew responsibilities include closing fire doors
• Being well versed in customer specifications and knowing how to identify structures for comparison to the proper spec
• Effective communication of results to the Laminating and Press Operators as well as Department Leads
• Use of PRISM screens to obtain job/production information

Education & Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Manufacturing experience preferred

Additional Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must pass pre-employment assessment
• Drug screening required

The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:

• Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to climb, kneel, bend, reach, stoop and squat
• Proficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skills
• Ability to pass Ishihara color test
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs safely
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)
• Ability to become certified in material handling equipment

Work Conditions:

The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:

• Noise levels above 80 dB
• Operation of complex machinery
• Solvents, fumes and inks
• Variable Temperatures
• Must be able to work flexible shifts
• May require nights, weekends, and holidays.
• An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only

This position is Monday - Friday 2pm to 10pm shift.
