Job summary

Walsworth in Marceline, MO is seeking a Quality Technician responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of manufacturing processes. You will collect readings from fountain solution tanks, track data, and help determine quality decisions by identifying defects and recording error data.

You will audit press units for dot gain and density, calibrate testing equipment, conduct bindery audits, and document repairs in AS400.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Willingness to work overtime as production requires.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay organized.
  • Must be self-directed and capable of working in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Take precise readings of the plate making process by recording and analyzing data weekly.
  • Record conductivity, pH, surface tension and temperature in fountain solution tanks and Auto-mix station.
  • Audit press units for dot gain, density and print defects using densitometers or spectrodensitometers.
  • Calibrate and service press room testing equipment and viewing booths.
  • Conduct audits of bindery machines and enter repairs into AS400.
  • Save samples of defects and document issues for root cause analysis.
  • Identify potential defects and investigate via proofs and cross-department collaboration.
  • Work overtime beyond 40 hours as production requires.

Job Summary:As a Quality - Technician you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of manufacturing processes. You will provide research material and information so quality decisions can be determined by detecting errors, recording error data and tracking the type/frequency of defects.Essential Functions:Take precise and regular readings of the plate making process by recording, graphing and analyzing the information weeklyTake precise and regular readings of conductivity, pH, surface tension and temperature in all fountain solution tanks and in the Auto-mix station.Audit and monitor all press printing units for dot gain, density and print defects by using densitometers or spectrodensitometersCalibrate and service all press room testing equipment (viewing booths, fountain solution test equipment, densitometers, and spectrodensitometers)Conduct audits of all Bindery machines.Check advance copies and F/G’sEnter repairs into AS400Assure defective material is destroyed or placed on hold until a decision is made.Save samples of the defect.Identify potential defects and research the issue through computer media, proofs, and previous printing or through collaboration with other departmentsAll other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work in a team environment.Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.Ability to work overtime beyond the standard 40-hour workweek depending on production requirements.Ability to be flexible, dependable, and have a strong work ethic is essential.Working Conditions/Physical Demands:Required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects.May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.May be required to lift, carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.Minimum Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent.#INDW3
