  • Audit press units for dot gain and defects using densitometers or spectrodensitometers.
  • Calibrate and service press room testing equipment.
  • AuditBindery machines and check advance copies and F/G's.
  • Enter repairs into AS400.
  • Ensure defective material is destroyed or placed on hold.
  • Save samples of the defect and research issues with other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Type: Hourly - Production

Salary Range: $16.00 - $18.00 Hourly

Job Shift: 2nd Shift- Evening

Job Summary:

As a Quality - Technician you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of manufacturing processes. You will provide research material and information so quality decisions can be determined by detecting errors, recording error data and tracking the type/frequency of defects.

Essential Functions:
  • Take precise and regular readings of the plate making process by recording, graphing and analyzing the information weekly
  • Take precise and regular readings of conductivity, pH, surface tension and temperature in all fountain solution tanks and in the Auto-mix station.
  • Audit and monitor all press printing units for dot gain, density and print defects by using densitometers or spectrodensitometers
  • Calibrate and service all press room testing equipment (viewing booths, fountain solution test equipment, densitometers, and spectrodensitometers)
  • Conduct audits of all Bindery machines.
  • Check advance copies and F/G's
  • Enter repairs into AS400
  • Assure defective material is destroyed or placed on hold until a decision is made.
  • Save samples of the defect.
  • Identify potential defects and research the issue through computer media, proofs, and previous printing or through collaboration with other departments
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime beyond the standard 40-hour workweek depending on production requirements.
  • Ability to be flexible, dependable, and have a strong work ethic is essential.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • Required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects.
  • May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
  • May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.
  • May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to lift, carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.
  • May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.
Minimum Requirements:
