Job summary

Oberg Industries in North Dakota is seeking a Quality Technician to advance in a quality-focused role, learning advanced inspection techniques and working with precision components.

You will perform in-process and final inspections, use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment, analyze data, and support continuous improvement with engineering and customers.

Qualifications

  • Two years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing; 3–5 years preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, GD&T and engineering specifications.
  • Strong measurement technique knowledge and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process, setup, first-piece, final, and receiving inspections on precision components.
  • Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other equipment.
  • Support FAI, Capability Studies, SPC, Gage R&R, PPAP, and APQP activities.
  • Verify conformance using blueprints and GD&T requirements.
  • Analyze inspection data and prepare quality reports for continuous improvement.
  • Calibrate and maintain measurement equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve issues.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Review tooling and launches to ensure quality from start to finish.
  • Maintain accurate records and quality documentation.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician with a strong manufacturing background who takes pride in ensuring precision, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced inspection equipment, support critical quality initiatives, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customers in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.

How You’ll Make a Difference:
  • Perform in-process, setup, first-piece, final, and receiving inspections on precision manufactured components.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, microscopes, granite surface plates, and automated inspection systems.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI), Capability Studies, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Gage R&R studies, PPAP, and APQP activities.
  • Verify product conformance using blueprints, engineering specifications, GD&T requirements, and quality plans.
  • Analyze inspection data and prepare reports that support quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Calibrate and maintain measurement and inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality concerns and improve product quality.
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing and inspection issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Review new tooling and product launches to ensure quality requirements are met from the start of production.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation, and in-process inspection procedures.
  • Utilize computers and automated inspection technology to record results and manage quality data.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment while following all company safety procedures.
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Minimum 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment (3-5 years preferred).
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience, preferably in precision machining, metal stamping, tooling, or related industries.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Strong understanding of precision measurement techniques and inspection methods.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or similar quality system experience preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or otherwise able to comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
