Job summary

Oberg Industries is seeking a CNC Training Supervisor to lead the apprenticeship program, delivering classroom and hands-on instruction in blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measurement. You will develop trainees from entry to production-ready machinists, guiding safety, quality, and professional habits.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and collaboration with production teams, engineers, and shop staff to strengthen a premier apprenticeship program while advancing core machining

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of precision manufacturing experience.
  • Previous CNC machining experience required.
  • Successful completion of a machining apprenticeship or equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of Oberg's apprenticeship program.
  • Teach blueprint reading, shop mathematics, GD&T, manufacturing fundamentals, and precision measurement techniques.
  • Train apprentices on the proper use of precision inspection equipment including: Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, Height gauges, Other metrology equipment.
  • Develop apprentices through classroom instruction and hands-on shop training.
  • Help apprentices apply blueprint interpretation and measurement techniques to real manufacturing projects.
  • Coach apprentices on safe work practices, quality standards, accountability, and professional work habits.
  • Supervise apprentices during their initial training and provide regular performance feedback.
  • Partner with production supervisors, engineers, machinists, and grinders to ensure apprentices are prepared for production environments.
  • Continuously improve training materials, curriculum, and apprentice development processes.
  • Support recruiting efforts by participating in career fairs and apprenticeship outreach activities.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for apprenticeship staff while supporting hiring, performance management, and employee development.

As our CNC Training Supervisor, you'll lead Oberg's apprenticeship program by teaching the technical skills every successful machinist needs. Through classroom instruction, hands-on training, and real-world manufacturing applications, you'll prepare apprentices to confidently transition into our production departments while helping strengthen one of the industry's premier apprenticeship programs. This is a highly visible leadership role that combines mentoring, technical instruction, and continuous improvement to develop the next generation of skilled manufacturing professionals.

What You'll Do:

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for someone who has spent time in precision manufacturing and understands what it takes to become a successful machinist. Previous experience leading teams, mentoring apprentices, or conducting on-the-job training is highly valued.
