Job summary

Job description

Summary

Provide assistance to production lines to ensure achievement of organizational goals. Resolve customer complaints and initiate corrective action. Develop supplier relationships in partnership with Sourcing Department. Develop, implement, and update process procedures. Assist in identifying cost reductions and value analysis for improvement of processes, products, and methods. Work in cooperation with mechanical/industrial engineers in conducting quality audits and capability studies to monitor, control, and improve the manufacturing process. Use lean manufacturing initiatives in all work methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide good customer service to all customers, both internal and external.
  • Identify, provide, and assess training for hourly associates.
  • Communicate training requirements to team leaders and area coordinators.
  • Recommend and implement changes as needed for value added and cost reduction.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing solutions to resolve internal and external customer complaints.
  • Maintain a reporting system for monitoring day-to-day activities (PPM).
  • Maintain historical data on products and processes for reference.
  • Develop, update, and initiate implementation of procedures, work instructions, and set-up instructions.
  • Monitor, control, and improve the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct, perform, and assist with quality audits and capability studies to increase manufacturing performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct, perform, and assist with all DFMEA and PFMEA activities.
  • Lead or participate in various process improvement teams.
  • Update manufacturing procedures to maintain quality certification compliance.
  • Coordinate with appropriate departments to resolve quality supplier and customer issues.
  • Initiate personal contacts with suppliers to establish quality requirements.
  • Review Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR) from suppliers as required.
  • Investigate returns to develop corrective action plans.
  • Prepare or submit all Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation as required.
  • Identify and recommend cost reductions and value analysis.
  • Monitor trends and recommend, implement, or coordinate corrective action to improve products, processes, and methods to reduce cost and increase value in accordance with lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Maintain and monitor the manufacturing scrap analysis program.
  • Implement corrective action to meet or exceed defined company objectives.

Supervisory responsibilities: None.

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field and 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing or inspection processes; or the equivalent in combined education and experience.
  • Familiarity with work measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Knowledge of personal computers and software, including Windows 95/98/2000 and Microsoft Office products.
