Job summary

Mayo Clinic—Southaven, Mississippi—is seeking a Quality Specialist to collaborate with management in establishing and maintaining the quality system essentials for assigned areas. The role leads the quality program and represents the laboratory during accreditation inspections, overseeing the proficiency testing program.

Qualified candidates hold a CLS/MLS-related degree (or MLS certificate) and have at least two years of laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS) or related field with MLS certification.
• Two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
• ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
• HEW certificate may substitute for the specified degree.
• Experience in basic clinical laboratory quality management concepts and regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Self-motivated, highly organized with strong decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information.

Responsibilities

• Works with the management team to ensure the quality system essentials exist for all assigned areas.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining the quality program for the work unit in collaboration with the management team.
• Represents the laboratory in all accreditation inspections and oversees the proficiency testing program.
