Job summary

Pure Storage, a leader in data platforms, seeks a senior software test engineer to ensure high-quality releases for FlashArray. You will work across hardware/software stacks, focusing on reliability and performance.

The role requires 10+ years in software testing, strong Python automation, and deep storage protocol/virtualization knowledge. You will design tests, automate them, and collaborate with support and engineering.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 10+ years of software system testing experience.
• Storage domain expertise across HA, caching, RAID, dedup, filesystems, and I/O paths.
• Experience with storage protocols (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NVMe) and virtualization.

Responsibilities

• Ensure releases of the highest quality.

The FlashArray team builds the industry’s most innovative, high-performance, and highly available portfolio of products that are designed for the most demanding mission critical applications. While we deliver a hardware storage array, over 90% of our engineering staff are software engineers. Our customers are the most important part of our business and they love FlashArray for it's simplicity of management, the constant flow of new and exciting upgrades, and ability to live on the cutting edge of technology while never taking downtime, ever. Most recently, we extended the value of our FlashArray capabilities into the cloud with CloudSnap and Cloud Block Store for AWS. What you'll be doing

• Ensuring releases of the highest quality
• Plan, test and qualify shipping releases
• Work with Support and Escalation teams to help reproduce and root cause customer issues
• Identifying, analyzing, and documenting any defects discovered during testing
• Triage and debug automated test failures across a multi-machine hardware/software stack
• Perform ad-hoc, automated and manual testing
• Design and build tools and automation to simplify testing and integration workflows
• Identify any test gaps, perform root cause analysis & close loop with the release engineering.

WHO YOU ARE

• BS in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 10+ years of software system testing experience.
• Storage Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of the storage stack — high availability, caching, flash, RAID, dedup/compression, filesystems, block storage, I/O paths, latency/throughput trade-offs, consistency, and replication — including designing test strategies for complex storage features.
• Protocols & Virtualization: Knowledge of storage protocols (Fibre Channel, FCoE, iSCSI, NVMe, SCSI, NFS, SMB) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V, OpenStack), plus experience across multiple operating systems (Linux/Windows/VMware).
• Interoperability & Hands‑On Lab Experience: Proven experience with interoperability testing, firmware updates, backwards compatibility, and upgrade paths, gained through hands‑on work in hardware labs or data centers with storage arrays.
• Test Automation & QA Methodology: Strong hands‑on Python test automation skills, familiarity with IO tools (vdbench, Orion, IOmeter) and database technologies (Oracle/SQL, OOP concepts), and solid grounding in QA best practices, failure/corner‑case scenario design, and root‑cause analysis.
• Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities, with excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

#LI-REMOTE, #LI-ONSITE Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity. There is no application deadline and we accept applications on an ongoing basis until the job is filled. The annual base salary range is: $217,000 - $326,000 USD
