About This Position Job Description:

Purpose: Under general supervision assists with supporting quality assurance, continual improvement, and risk mitigation activities for business units within the organization.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following.

  • Assists with projects related to the development or improvement of organizational programs, processes, and systems.
  • Uses quality assurance methodologies to assist with current state analysis assessments.
  • Assists with continuous improvement projects for business units within the organization.
  • Assists with risk mitigation evaluations to improve organizational performance.
  • Assists with assessments of organizational systems and processes.
  • Assists with organizational change efforts.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of continual improvement training activities.
  • Supports the organizations quality center of excellence.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus one (1) years of experience related to the job.

Lean Six Sigma Certification may substitute for required experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

None.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Public Safety or investigative environment.
  • Proficiency with law enforcement databases (TCOLE, TCLEDDS, Versadex, AXON, TechShare, Odyssey).
  • Experience with records management and public information requests.
  • Strong administrative background supporting an office environment.
  • Notary Public certification & ability to obtain CJIS Clearance.
  • Experience in data quality, data mining, and analytics.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies.
Notes to Candidate:

The Temporary Quality Specialist assigned to Austin Fire's Arson Division provides administrative, records, and system support to ensure smooth daily operations, accurate investigative documentation, and compliance with law-enforcement requirements. A vital part of the role includes Records Management and Public Information Requests, ensuring timely responses, proper case documentation and adherence to legal standards. The position also supports the Compliance and Quality Assurance Division Manager on special projects involving process improvement, data management, and organizational performance. This position requires strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage records and Public Information Requests. Applicants must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high level of discretion and professionalism.

Primary Duties:
  • Office operations - Serve as primary administrative support; manage calls, emails, scheduling, coordination, document preparation, vendor support, travel, notary services, supply orders and workflow support.
  • Arson Leadership Support - Provide administrative assistance to the Arson Battalion Chief, Captain and direct supervisor; maintain TCOLE and TCLEDDS records.
  • The Technical Writer works in the Office of the Fire Chief drafting correspondence, reports, marketing materials, and other documents.
  • The primary contribution of this position is the ability to quickly compose written materials and knowledge about grammar and punctuation when editing other people’s writing.
Salary Range:

$29.94 - $37.43 hourly

Days and Hours:

Monday - Friday. 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Hours may vary due to operational needs.

Telework:

In-Office position with NO telework options.

Assessment(s) may be administered as part of this recruitment.
