This role oversees and maintains physical security and fire alarm systems across City of Austin facilities. It administers access control, surveillance, intrusion detection, and life‑safety technologies; deploys and troubleshoots related hardware and software; and ensures system performance, compliance, and operational efficiency. The position coordinates contractors, manages documentation, supports disaster recovery planning, and evaluates emerging technologies. It also collaborates with information security teams, analyzes system data, and trains customers on system use. May provide leadership and guidance to other staff.
Purpose: Under minimal supervision, this position oversees various security measures, including access control systems, security cameras, and fire alarms, and coordinates with service delivery providers for City of Austin facilities.

May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, and guidance to others.
Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the job, plus (4) four years related to physical security experience. Experience in a related field may substitute for education of up to four (4) years.
This position requires a Texas Class C Driver's License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date.
If the position requires travel, you must meet Driver Safety Program standards, Otherwise, you are responsible for transportation to and from multiple job sites as needed.
