Job summary

Ducommun Incorporated is seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance professional to ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specs and internal procedures in a high reliability manufacturing environment.

You will oversee inspection activities, lead root cause analysis, track KPIs, support CAPA programs, and provide real-time floor support to prevent risk and ensure on-time delivery of complex aerospace components.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with personal computers, answering telephones, and utilization of computerized spreadsheets to conduct analysis.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Intermediate arithmetic and geometry skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Familiarity with CMMC, is preferred.
• Ability to adapt to changing requirements
• Willingness to perform other duties when necessary
• Ability to communicate efficiently with employees, customers, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Coordinate MRB activity (use-as-is, repair, rework, scrap).
• Provide real-time shop floor support to production and interpret specs.

Ensure company compliance with customer and internal quality requirements in a high reliability manufacturing environment. Support Engineer and production team to track and assess quality performance metrics and facilitate root cause analysis investigations.

Inspection & Product Conformance

• Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities
• Ensure correct interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications
• Review and approve inspection results, FAIRs, Test Result Reports, etc.
• Work with management to determine product acceptability when issues arise

Nonconformance & Corrective Action

• Manage Returns and Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMRs/NCRs)
• Lead or support root cause analysis (5 Whys, etc.)
• Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
• Coordinate MRB activity (use-as-is, repair, rework, scrap)

Quality System & Compliance (including CMMC)

• Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specs, and internal procedures/work instructions
• Maintain and enforce documented procedures, work instructions, and quality records
• Support certifications, audits, and surveillance visits (internal, customer, and regulatory)
• Ensure proper document control and revision usage on the floor

Customer & Supplier Quality Interaction

• Act as the primary quality contact for customers and vendors
• Support customer audits, escapes, and formal responses
• Review with management supplier quality performance and improvement plans

Data, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

• Track and report KPIs such as:
• Scrap and rework
• Audit findings
• Customer escapes
• Use quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Partner with Operations and Engineering on process improvements (like artwork redesign)

Daily Shop Floor Support

• Provide real-time support to production when questions arise
• Interpret specs and resolve quality hurdles quickly
• Balance compliance with production flow (this is a big one to ensure OTD)
• Timely escalates risks before they become customer issues
• Walking the floor to verify process adherence
• Answering the burdensome "should we ship this?" question

Required Skills And Qualifications

Required Experience And Education

• Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and or experience.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in Quality Systems, inspection, and products.

Base Compensation: USD 75,000.00 - 85,000.00 Paid Salaried
