Job summary

Ducommun, Inc. seeks a Quality Specialist to oversee inspection activities and ensure precise interpretation of engineering drawings. You will review inspection results and assist management on product acceptability, lead NCR/NCMR processes, and support CAPA initiatives on the shop floor.

The role requires 3–5 years in Quality Systems, strong blueprint reading, and familiarity with CMMC. Base compensation is USD 75,000–85,000, full-time, in Huntington Beach, CA.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in Quality Systems, inspection, and products.
• Technical degree or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Familiarity with CMMC is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.
• Ensure correct interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Review and approve inspection results and reports (FAIRs, Test Result Reports, etc.).
• Work with management to determine product acceptability when issues arise.
• Manage Returns and Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMRs/NCRs).
• Lead or support root cause analysis (5 Whys, etc.).
• Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Coordinate MRB activity (use-as-is, repair, rework, scrap).
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specs, and internal procedures/work instructions.
• Maintain and enforce documented procedures, work instructions, and quality records.
• Support certifications, audits, and surveillance visits (internal, customer, regulatory).
• Act as primary quality contact for customers and vendors.

Job Summary

Inspection & Product Conformance

• Oversee incoming, in-process, and final

• Support customer audits, escapes, and
  formal responses
• Review with management supplier quality
  performance and improvement plans

Data, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

• Track and report KPIs such as:
• Scrap and rework
• Audit findings
• Customer escapes
• Use quality data to identify trends and
  improvement opportunities
• Partner with Operations and Engineering on
  process improvements (like artwork redesign)

Daily Shop Floor Support

• Provide real-time support to production
  when questions arise
• Interpret specs and resolve quality
  hurdles quickly
• Balance compliance with production flow
  (this is a big one to ensure OTD)
• Timely escalates risks before they become
  customer issues
• Walking the floor to verify process
  adherence
• Answering the burdensome "should we ship
  this?" question

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Familiarity with
  personal computers, answering telephones, and utilization of computerized
  spreadsheets to conduct analysis.
• Fluency in
  Microsoft Office Suite.
• Intermediate
  arithmetic and geometry skills.
• Ability to read
  and interpret blueprints.
• Familiarity
  with CMMC, is preferred.
• Ability
  to adapt to changing requirements
• Willingness
  to perform other duties when necessary
• Ability
  to communicate efficiently with employees, customers, and vendors.

Required Experience and Education

• Technical Degree
  or equivalent combination of education and or experience.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in Quality Systems, inspection,
  and products.

Base Compensation: USD 75,000.00 - 85,000.00
