Job summary

Resilient Structures is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Shift Lead to oversee quality across the production shift, mentoring QA inspectors and lab technicians. You will monitor quality, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with standard procedures and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education preferred.
• 2–5 years' experience in a quality role within a production environment.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant quality standards and regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and support a team of QA inspectors and Quality Lab Technicians on the designated shift.
• Ensure team members are properly trained and have resources to perform their duties.
• Assist the Quality Manager/Supervisor with scheduling quality department personnel on their shift.
• Monitor and assess product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify deviations from standards.
• Collaborate with production to resolve quality-related issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with QC procedures and specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and non-conformance reports.
• Communicate with production supervisors, operators, and stakeholders about quality issues and improvements.
• Escalate critical quality concerns to the Quality Supervisor or Manager for resolution strategies.
• Perform and record incoming inspection and tests of raw materials and finished batches.
• Prepare and submit quality reports to the Quality Manager and stakeholders.
• Assist in developing and revising quality documentation, including SOPs.

Job description

The Manufacturing Quality Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of production processes on their designated shift. This role involves monitoring product quality, training personnel and providing work coverage for QA inspectors (Filament Winding, Pultrusion, Order Prep Assembly), Lab Technicians and Resin Blenders. The incumbent will work closely with production teams to maintain high-quality standards, troubleshoot quality issues, and ensure compliance with all relevant quality standards and regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead, mentor, and support a team of QA inspectors and Quality Lab Technicians on the designated shift.
• Ensure that team members are properly trained and have the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively.
• Assist the Quality Manager/Supervisor with scheduling quality department personnel on their shift.
• Monitor and assess product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify deviations from quality standards.
• Collaborate with production personnel to resolve quality-related issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with established quality control procedures and specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and non-conformance reports.
• Communicate effectively with production supervisors, operators, and other stakeholders regarding quality issues, trends, and improvement initiatives.
• Escalate critical quality concerns to the Quality Supervisor or Manager to collaborate on resolution strategies.
• Conduct quality tests on all finished resin batches and raw materials to maintain product quality by following RS specifications.
• Performs and records incoming inspection and tests of raw materials.
• Conduct other pre-production, final product, and shipping inspections.
• Maintain both electronic and hard copies of quality records.
• Inform Quality Manager of any discrepancies in tests or inspections.
• Serve as backup for other quality positions.
• Prepare and submit quality reports to the Quality Manager and relevant stakeholders.
• Assist in the development and revision of quality documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Participate in internal and external quality audits and assist in implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Manager.

TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience, post-secondary education preferred.
• Two to five years' experience within a quality role in a production environment preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant quality standards and regulations preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and quality management software.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions:

• This position typically involves working in an industrial production environment, which may require standing, walking, and lifting.
• The role may require working in shifts, including nights and weekends, depending on the manufacturing schedule.
• Time critical support required.
• Interaction with chemicals, heavy machinery, and moving equipment.
