  • Verify test results and release approved goods for shipment.
  • Assist in root-cause analysis and corrective actions for issues.
  • Maintain 6S practices through audits and visual checks.
  • Participate in meetings, kaizen events, and plant initiatives.

Job description

Provide Quality Department support and leadership for the site production efforts by ensuring all products meet both internal and customer requirements and specifications during production and prior to shipment. Quarantines and reports nonconforming materials and finished products for management disposition. Performs all required auditing and testing of products during shift hours to detect defects or process failures for resolution. Serves as a mentor to new and established employees through effective teaching and communication of Quality values, methods and standards. Works hand in hand with the Quality Manager to effectively guide the shifts through a productive and efficient day.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow and promote the company’s safety-first culture through proper execution and monitoring of safety procedures including the use of all safety equipment, personal protective gear and safety glasses (where applicable). Stops and reports ALL unsafe activities immediately.
  • Execute the company’s ISO 9001 program which may include inspections, monthly auditing, reporting of threats and risks as well as monitoring process and variance to established procedures.
  • Perform roving and regularly scheduled audits/inspections of the production lines and company work areas, document findings via various in process reporting forms and spreadsheets. Communicates results and concerns effectively to Quality Manager, Plant Management and Director of Quality.
  • Quarantines and reports nonconforming materials and finished products for management disposition. Ensure all nonconforming materials are properly labeled and properly placed in the sites MRB area with full descriptions and images of the defect(s).
  • Perform effective line changeover inspections including first article inspection, mixing prevention and initial testing.
  • Ensure all production personnel are completing the required paperwork and quality checks as scheduled and report anomalies to the Shift Manager and Quality Manager.
  • Verify testing results and measurements against established standards and release passing finished goods for shipment while quarantining questionable or untested material.
  • Measure, visually inspect and document the retain samples from daily production
  • Verify all daily required production paperwork is on the production floor, completed accurately and legibly by the owner and archive all completed documents per the company’s document control standards.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in effective and complete timely root cause analysis and corrective actions for all customer complaints, internal process anomalies, internal reject, excessive scrap or rework to reduce Customer complaints, control cost of production, maintain the integrity of process and foster continuous improvement in the plant.
  • Assist the plant is maintaining a 6S system through auditing and visual area inspections.
  • Actively participate in company meetings, zoom calls, on site visits, kaizen activities and new initiatives within the plant and as needed externally.
  • Perform and document all duties outlined in the Control Plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Critical Measurables:
  • Detailed and effective end of shift reporting and reporting and on shift communication and teamwork with a cross functional and cross departmental team.
  • Effective management of nonconformance, paperwork completion, testing frequency and changeover process on the shift.
  • Maintaining acceptable attendance and punctuality.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Required knowledge:
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks with little assistance choosing to do things the right way even when it takes longer or there is pressure to take shortcuts.
  • Must be a positive, steady and mentoring leader/coach who can help other stay on track even on stressful days.
  • Must thrive in a team environment using a “Group think” approach to solving problems.
  • Must enjoy training and interacting with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to understand quality standards and perform visual and dimensional quality inspections.
Skills/Abilities
  • Solid understanding of all measurement tools and devices such as scales, calipers, micrometers and go no-go gauges
  • Excellent vision and color differential reading abilities
  • Demonstratable Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Outlook, Work and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
