Job summary

MDS Staffing seeks a senior Quality & Receiving Inspection Leader in Minnesota to direct a team of Quality Technicians, design standardized inspection protocols, and drive Lean improvements. This role ensures material quality, process standardization, and timely corrective actions across supplier and internal quality systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field.
• Extensive quality experience in manufacturing, especially in receiving inspection.
• Proven ability to lead and develop inspection teams.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading and inspection technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Quality Technicians in receiving inspection.
• Design and refine inspection protocols for uniform material evaluation across product lines.
• Set inspection priorities and manage resources to support production schedules while upholding quality standards.
• Ensure Training and certification of inspectors in inspection methods and instruments.
• Identify and implement Lean-based process improvements to enhance inspection efficiency.
• Lead investigations into supplier and incoming material quality issues (containment, root cause, corrective actions).
• Oversee NCR activity to ensure timely resolution and identify trends for systemic corrective actions.
• Analyze receiving inspection performance metrics to drive improvements and supplier quality.

Join a dynamic team in a pivotal leadership role where your expertise will guide the standardization processes, foster talent development, enhance supplier quality performance, and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives. This position is critical to ensuring that our products uphold the highest standards of safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of Quality Technicians, promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the Receiving Inspection function.
• Design and refine inspection protocols and methods to ensure uniform evaluation of incoming materials across all product lines.
• Set inspection priorities and manage resources to support production schedules while upholding quality standards.
• Ensure Quality Technicians are thoroughly trained and skilled in inspection methods, precision measurement instruments, and evaluation technologies, maintaining standardized work and certification requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements, leveraging technology, automation, and Lean methodologies to enhance inspection efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead investigations into supplier and incoming material quality issues, including containment, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee Nonconformance Report (NCR) activity to ensure timely resolution and identify trends for systemic corrective actions.
• Analyze receiving inspection performance metrics, initiate improvements, and enhance supplier quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive quality experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in leading receiving inspection or quality operations.
• Proven track record in leading, coaching, and developing Quality Technicians or similar inspection teams.
• Strong knowledge of receiving inspection methodologies, GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection technologies.
• Experience in developing standardized inspection plans and instructions.
• Proficient in quality tools such as Root Cause Analysis, Control Plans, FMEA, SPC, PPAP, Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO 9001 standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASQ Certification (CQE, CMQ/OE, CQA, or similar).
• Experience with advanced inspection technologies like CMMs and vision systems.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and electronic quality management systems.
• Experience in APQP, supplier development, or New Product Introduction.
• Background in high-volume manufacturing environments.
