Job summary

MDS Staffing in Minnesota is seeking a Quality Manager to lead quality initiatives in our stainless-steel manufacturing operations. You will blend leadership with hands-on quality engineering to ensure products meet the highest standards and customer expectations.

You will mentor a team of Quality Technicians, drive cross-functional improvements with Lean and Six Sigma, and maintain ISO 9001:2015 compliance while advancing APQP and continuous improvement across the value stream.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years in manufacturing and quality roles with 2+ years in leadership.
• Strong communication and customer/supplier management skills.
• Proficiency in Six Sigma, Lean, and quality management systems.
• Certifications such as CQE, CMQ, CQA or ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Quality Technicians.
• Serve as primary quality liaison for the stainless-steel value stream.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Lean, Engineering, Sales, Materials, Procurement, HR and Maintenance.

Position Overview:

Join our team as we seek a dedicated and strategic Quality Manager to spearhead quality initiatives within our stainless-steel manufacturing operations. This pivotal role combines leadership with hands-on quality engineering to ensure that our products consistently meet the highest standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of Quality Technicians, fostering their professional growth through effective coaching, development, and succession planning.
• Act as the primary quality liaison for the stainless-steel value stream, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational excellence through strategic quality management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Lean, Engineering, Sales, Materials, Procurement, HR, and Maintenance to drive quality initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to established quality processes and standards, maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements.
• Lead the investigation and resolution of internal and external quality issues using Six Sigma tools and root-cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Support and lead external audits, as well as product and process audits, ensuring follow-up actions are completed effectively.
• Apply engineering and Lean principles to enhance manufacturing quality and reliability, supporting APQP initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing and quality functions, with at least 2 years of formal leadership experience preferred.
• Proven experience in customer and supplier management, with strong communication skills to handle complex quality issues.
• Proficiency in process management, organizational change, Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, and quality management systems.
• Preferred certifications include CQE, CMQ, CQA, ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor, and/or CWI.
• Experience in sheet-steel manufacturing is a plus.
