Job summary

Briggs & Stratton is seeking a Quality & Reliability Engineering Manager in Milwaukee, WI. The role coordinates continuous improvement processes for field reliability, warranty reduction, and product quality, acting as the primary technical interface across field data, feedback, and engineering teams.

You will lead cross-functional teams to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions, incorporating risk analysis into new product designs to prevent repeat field failures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent education/experience).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive engineering, quality, or reliability experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing technical processes, warranty projects, or cross-functional failure analysis teams.
  • Prior direct supervisory experience is beneficial, though this role functions primarily as a manager of technical processes and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor field warranty data, quality indicators, and claim trends to proactively identify emerging issues and high-risk failure patterns.
  • Managing technical containment and corrective action workflows by mobilizing cross-functional teams to address prioritized field risks.
  • Preparing monthly management review documentation, including warranty rate charts, trend metrics, and analytics dashboards, to evaluate product reliability.
  • Translating field technician diagnostics, customer feedback, and physical teardown findings into actionable engineering data.
  • Coordinating cross-functional resolution strategies with internal technical services, quality, sales, and product engineering teams.

Job description

As a Quality & Reliability Engineering Manager your goal is to manage and coordinate continuous improvement processes for field reliability, warranty reduction and product quality. You will act as the primary technical interface connecting field data, customer feedback, and engineering teams to identify emerging failure trends. You will also lead cross-functional teams to execute root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions across product lines.Incorporates risk analysis into new product designs to prevent repeat field failures

You Will Do This By
  • Monitoring field warranty data, quality indicators, and claim trends to proactively identify emerging issues and high-risk failure patterns
  • Managing technical containment and corrective action workflows by mobilizing cross-functional teams to address prioritized field risks
  • Preparing monthly management review documentation, including warranty rate charts, trend metrics, and analytics dashboards, to evaluate product reliability
  • Translating field technician diagnostics, customer feedback, and physical teardown findings into actionable engineering data
  • Coordinating cross-functional resolution strategies with internal technical services, quality, sales, and product engineering teams.
  • Directing customer-facing technical quality reviews to track early indicators and support equipment manufacturer relationships
  • Evaluating current product risks and incorporate warranty requirements into new product development projects to prevent design failures
  • Analyzing warranty trends tied to supplier quality issues to support financial cost recovery efforts. Conduct analyses of field returns to determine failure modes as a way to assist with determination of projects’ next steps
  • Participating in annual strategic planning, warranty forecasting models, and long-term cost reduction initiatives
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead technical processes and cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to translate complex technical diagnostics into actionable engineering tasks
  • Strong analytical judgment to determine resource allocation and intervention priorities for field issues
  • Solid computer skills, including business intelligence software, spreadsheets, and data analytics productivity tools
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility
  • Domestic and/or international travel required up to 10%.
