Job summary

EnerSys in Sumter, SC is seeking a Quality Inspector responsible for inspecting products across processes, identifying defects, and ensuring compliance with specifications. You will work with management, quality, and production teams to maintain coverage and uphold standards.

Responsibilities include inspecting fabricated steel parts and welded assemblies, documenting checks daily, quarantining non-conforming material, and disposing scraps.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with blueprint interpretation and precision measurement preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect fabricated steel parts and welded assemblies.
• Document inspections and non-conformances daily.
• Quarantine non-conforming material and disposition scrap.
• Monitor process parameters and equipment settings.
• Maintain coverage for vacations and absences.
• Support 5S, 5 Why’s, and rapid improvement events.
• Communicate with management, quality, and production teams.

Job Purpose

Responsible for inspection of product in all processes. Identify cause of related defects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must be assertive rejecting poor Quality.
• Must maintain positive communication with Management Team, Quality, and Production associates.
• Must work with the team to assure vacation and absence coverage.
• Must be competent using Microsoft Office, Excel, and SAP.
• Must complete all inspection documentation daily. Including documentation of all checks that are performed, all issues, and First Article Inspection.
• Must quarantine non–conforming material. Must disposition Scrap and fill out required documentation.
• Must be effective with use of time to ensure all processes of manufacturing are inspected.
• Perform inspection of fabricated steel parts.
• Perform inspection of welded assemblies.
• Perform inspection of welds and placement of welds.
• Perform inspection of grind radius, surface, and edge preparation.
• Perform inspection of powder coating surfaces and thicknesses.
• Monitoring of process parameters to include equipment settings and titration.
• A primary duty is to exercise discretion and independent judgment when dealing with critical matters within the quality department.
• Must be engaged and competent in EOS – MDI Boards, Accountability Tags, 5S, 5 Why’s, and Rapid Improvement Events.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, 5 yrs. manufacturing experience preferred. Some experience with blueprint and precision measurement preferred.
