Job summary

The Armor Group in Mason, OH, is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to perform part, sub-assembly, and final assembly inspections per drawings and specs to meet internal and customer requirements. You will document inspections, manage certs/COCs from suppliers, and log non-conformances in Epicor while working with Quality Engineers, Project Managers, and manufacturing teams.

A strong background in blueprint reading and measurement tools is essential, with 5+ years in quality inspection in metal

Job description

This Senior Quality Inspector will provide part and product, sub-assembly, and final assembly inspection services for assigned product lines, following defined inspection processes per the drawings and specifications to meet internal and customer’s requirements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Documented inspection of incoming, first piece, in-process, and final parts/products across several product lines
  • Part acceptance and rejection based on engineering drawings and specifications
  • Collecting and maintaining certs & COC’s from suppliers
  • Documenting, in Epicor, non-conformances for vendor-supplied items
  • Document copying, document filing, and labor reporting
  • Assist Quality Specialists, Manufacturing (welders, assemblers, supervisors), Engineers and Project Managers on Quality related matters/issues
  • Additional items as assigned by Quality Engineer and Quality Manager
COMPETENCY AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficient in blue-print reading including tolerancing and weld symbols
  • Knowledge and experience using hand-held measurement tools (micrometer, calipers, gauges, tape, etc.)
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude
  • Possess the ability to process numbers, and record statistics
  • Multi-tasker, detail oriented, organized, efficient and accurate
  • Possess the confidence to question, place on hold, call out sub-par quality without reservation
  • Ability to communicate through clear explanation, verbalization, and concise writing
  • Knowledge and use of Excel, Outlook, and Word at an intermediate level

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of High School or Technical School diploma
  • Two-year post-secondary degree or Certification as a CQI (Certified Quality Inspector)
  • Minimum 5 years of quality inspection experience, preferably with parts/products fabricated from sheet metal, structural steel, steel piping and machined metals.
  • Ability to visually inspect welds to determine non-conformances
  • Knowledge and use of a variety of hand-held measuring instrumentation
  • Experience working in a Quality certified environment (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.) preferred
WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
  • This position will typically require 90% time on the production floor and 10% time in the office
  • This position can be assigned to work either the 1 st , 2 nd, or weekend shift (need dependent)
