Job summary

PPG Industries is seeking a Quality Manager to act as a liaison among Operations, Process Engineering, Technical, and Customer facing teams in Greensboro, NC. You will report to the Plant Manager and work onsite to drive quality in product realization processes.

Responsibilities include leading QMS improvements, overseeing audits, and guiding corrective actions while collaborating with SAP, LIMS, and ETQ Reliance systems to uphold quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • 5+ years of quality management experience, preferably in automotive industry.
  • 3+ years of people management or supervisory experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification required.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal).

Job description

As the Quality Manager, you will act as a liaison between Operations, Process Engineering, Technical, and Customer facing teams (Account Manager and Optima team) in quality related inquiries and investigations. You will work onsite in Greensboro, NC and report to the Plant Manager.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Drive continuous improvement of the QMS and certifications, ensuring all QMS, customer-specific, and Supplier Quality Manual requirements are embedded in product realization processes and consistently met.
  • Ensure consistent measurement and reporting of site quality performance
  • Lead internal and external quality incident investigations (off-spec events, customer complaints, and SCARs), ensure communication, effective implementation of corrective actions, and systematic problem resolution.
  • Use data to lead site quality improvement programs to improve yield/productivity cost of non-conformance and customer complaints performance.
  • Facilitate/lead in-house customer and supplier visits.
  • Support and troubleshoot data systems including SAP, LIMS, and ETQ Reliance
  • Plan and deliver site internal audit program and document control system
  • Collaborate with technical, Optima and R&D teams to lead improvement in quality in first right capability.
  • Gate keeper in site level quality MOC, and New Product Launches
  • Provide quality, training, leadership and coaching for the site and promote quality culture
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of quality management experience, preferred in automotive industry
  • 3+ years of people management or supervisory experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
