Job summary

PPG is seeking a Quality Engineer to report to the Global Quality Director of PPG Advanced Surface Technologies. You will drive quality improvements, implement QMS processes, and lead problem-solving teams to prevent recurrence.

Required are a engineering degree and 3+ years in technical quality; certification in ISO/IATF audits and CQE/CQA is preferred. Travel up to 20% and close collaboration with cross-functional teams are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in technical quality.
• Lead Auditor for ISO-9001 or IATF-16949 certified.
• Expert in AIAG Core Tools: APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, PPAP.
• Experience in Tier 1/OEM automotive industry.
• CQE or CQA certification preferred.
• Lean and CI methodologies experience.
• Domestic and international travel up to 20%.

• Collaborate with QA, production, engineering to resolve issues and improve systems.
• Monitor quality data and lead corrective actions using 8D/6 Sigma tools.
• Provide training on QMS requirements to affected personnel.
• Participate in audits, corrective actions, and improvement events.
• Lead improvements of the QMS components.

Job description

As a Quality Engineer you will report to the Global Quality Director of PPG Advanced Surface Technologies. Main aspects of the role include improving and implementing business processes, investigating quality problems discovered by customers and lead problem solving teams to determine cause and develop corrective actions to prevent future reoccurrences. You will also develop and implement quality methodologies to transform the workspace from a reactionary organization to an organization. PPG Advanced Surface Technologies designs, produces and commercialize different film technologies including paint protection films and paint films for different uses including Automotive OEM and Automotive aftermarket applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate customer-reported quality issues and collaborate with them to improve our quality.

• Analyze processes to identify problem situations; review facts and create solutions using operational and engineering guidelines, procedures, regulations, industry standards and past successes.

• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Production, Engineering, and other departments to resolve issues and to improve systems.

• Monitor quality performance data, used to track progress to goals and to lead cause corrective action; involve other tasks and assist each team with actions to increase performance improvements.

• Lead employees in problem-solving processes including 8D, and 6 Sigma and other forms of statistical problem-solving tools.

• Provide training to individuals whose work affects quality issues in the requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS).

• Participate in internal audits, corrective action program, and improvement events providing hands-on support.

• Develop error proofing strategy, process capability Analysis.

• Lead the improvement and implementation of several aspects of our QMS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field

• Minimum of 3 years of experience within a technical quality field or an equivalent environment.

• Certified Lead Auditor for ISO-9001 or IATF-16949.

• Expert in the use of AIAG Core Tools, (APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, PPAP)

• Experience in Tier 1/OEM automotive industry.

• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).

• Experience with Lean and other CI methodologies.

• Domestic and international travel required up to 20%
