Job description

Formulate is building the technology platform redefining how personal care products are designed, manufactured, and delivered. We believe the era of mass-produced, one-size-fits-all skin and hair care is coming to an end.

We are leading the shift toward a new chemist-to-consumer model - where expert formulation, intelligent software, and advanced manufacturing come together to create products tailored to real people. By connecting formulation science directly to the end user, we are changing not only how products are made, but how they are discovered, customized, and purchased.

We're building the platform powering a new movement - one that replaces mass production with precision creation.

About the Role

As Quality Manager, you will own the quality systems that govern our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for ensuring our facility maintains high standards across raw materials, batch production, finished goods, and documentation.

This is a hands‑on leadership role inside our production environment. You will build and refine SOPs, oversee quality control processes, manage deviations, and drive continuous improvement across the facility.

We are building a modern, automation‑driven manufacturing platform -- but quality discipline remains foundational. This role ensures that as we scale, our systems remain consistent, auditable, and reliable.

This is a full‑time, onsite role based in St. Louis, Missouri.

What You’ll Do
  • Own and maintain the facility's quality management systems.
  • Develop and update SOPs, batch documentation standards, and inspection protocols.
  • Oversee incoming material inspection, in‑process checks, and finished goods approval.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventative actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and safety standards.
  • Train and mentor Quality Control Technicians and production staff on quality procedures.
  • Monitor key quality metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to improve process robustness and reduce defects.
  • Support audits, customer quality requests, and documentation requirements.
What We’re Looking For
  • 4+ years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, documentation control, and deviation management.
  • Experience with GMP, ISO-style systems, or regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and hands‑on in a production setting.
  • High ownership mindset and accountability for outcomes.
  • Ability to drive structured process discipline without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Strong communication skills across production, engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Experience in cosmetics, personal care, food, chemical, or related industries is a plus.
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Leadership role with direct influence over production quality standards.
  • Opportunity to build scalable quality systems in a growing facility.
  • Hands‑on impact in a modern manufacturing environment.
