Job summary

ColonialWebb Contractors Company in Richmond, VA, seeks a hands-on Quality Manager to lead a comprehensive QMS across sheet metal fabrication, piping, welding, and assembly for prefabrication projects.

You will build a world-class quality program, drive SPC and lean initiatives, and lead a team of quality inspectors while partnering with Engineering and Operations to ensure conformance to ASME, SMACNA, and AWS standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of quality management experience in manufacturing, construction, fabrication, or prefabrication.
• Experience developing and implementing QMS.
• Experience leading quality teams and driving continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of SPC and applying statistical methods.
• Ability to conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive QMS for prefabrication operations.
• Create quality procedures, inspection plans, and work instructions for fabrication, piping, welding, and assembly.
• Establish process audit routines to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
• Define and monitor quality metrics including first-pass yield, defect rates, rework, and process capability.
• Develop and implement SPC systems to monitor manufacturing performance.
• Analyze quality data and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Build, mentor, and lead a team of Quality Inspectors.
• Train production personnel on quality standards and continuous improvement practices.
• Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Operations to improve product quality.
• Lead root cause investigations using 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, SMACNA, and AWS.
• Maintain inspection records, certifications, and quality documentation.
• Prepare KPI dashboards, quality reports, and trend analyses for leadership.
