Onsite: This role requires reporting to Flint Metal Center on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The Quality Manager will support Shop Directors in improving and defining Global Ops requirements. They will collaborate across manufacturing disciplines to standardize launch quality systems, procedures, and metrics, serving as the BIQ IV plant principal for Pontiac and Flint Metal Center. The role involves addressing manufacturing requirements early in the product development process and supporting launch initiatives. Travel between stamping facilities and customer plants will be required for weekly problem-solving and participation in 5F activities.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
  1. Manage and direct employees responsible for Operations Quality deliverables.
  2. Oversee product quality initiatives in stamping plants.
  3. Develop and maintain standards, processes, and operational plans supporting business strategies.
  4. Influence others to accept new practices and concepts.
  5. Identify problems and update working methods.
  6. Promote GM's values and customer-focused decisions.
  7. Build a network for feedback to protect customer interests and support product changes.
  8. Establish strong customer relationships.
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • 5 years of experience in quality or manufacturing.
  • 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Ability to work overtime and off-shift (including weekends and holidays).
  • Ability to travel between Flint and Pontiac regularly.
  • Strong background in continuous improvement and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of stamping, body shop, and paint processes and quality control plans.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • 8+ years of experience in quality or manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience working in a stamping plant or body shop.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • GMS/BIQ IV calibration experience.
  • Launch and Lean Six Sigma experience.
  • Experience with GSQE buyoff or stamping panel surface quality.
