Job summary

Scherdel Sales & Technology, Inc. in Muskegon, MI is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the development and maintenance of a quality system to ensure products meet customer specifications and achieve high reliability.

You will drive supplier qualification, audits, PPAP reviews, and cross-functional corrective actions while ensuring adherence to quality and environmental standards. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in engineering, quality, manufacturing or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of quality-related experience; automotive manufacturing experience incl. 3 years.
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, measurement, process capability, Six Sigma and related methods.
• Good interpersonal and written/verbal communication; strong leadership and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Windows environments and ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Drives the development and implementation of a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standards.
• Implements, revises and updates the Quality Management Manual to incorporate statistical control programs, as well as all work instructions/forms.
• Develops and maintains a Supplier Quality Index and reviews PPAPs from vendors.
• Represents Scherdel SST in meetings with vendors, customers, quality representatives and company personnel to discuss quality issues.
• Prepares and represents the organization during internal audits, third-party audits and customer audits.

About the Role

The Quality Manager will assist in the development and maintenance of a system to assure that all products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.

Responsibilities

• Drives the development and implementation of a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standards.
• Implements, revises and updates the Quality Management Manual to incorporate statistical control programs, as well as all work instructions/forms.
• Develops and maintains a Supplier Quality Index to assure that only high-quality vendors are retained. Reviews and approves all PPAPs from vendors.
• Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and Company personnel to discuss and resolve quality and environmental issues as required. Represents Scherdel SST.
• Prepares and represents the organization during internal audits, third-party audits, and customer audits.
• Prepares accurate and timely reports of all audit findings which are representative of the quality performance of the item under audit, to enable the company to maintain its quality system.
• Assists departments with the coordination of audit information and recommends appropriate data-gathering mechanisms, procedures, etc.
• Full responsibility for approval of all sample submissions of new products and engineering changes, PPAP paperwork and participates in APQP meetings.
• Leads cross functional team for all corrective actions and oversees implementation.
• Sets quality objectives and related training.
• Works according to Scherdel’s quality and environmental system requirements, and customer quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or related technical field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of quality related experience required; three years of which in the automotive manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge in statistical analysis, precision measurement, process capability studies, mathematics, Six Sigma, and industrial processes are essential for this position.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written with customers and internally.
• Computer skills in windows environment required.

Position Environment

• Must be able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment.
• Travel may be required.
