Job summary

SCHERDEL Sales & Technology, Inc. in Muskegon, MI invites a QUALITY Manager to join our team. You will develop and sustain quality programs to assure product conformity to customer specs and reliability, while leading supplier quality initiatives and audits.

This role requires strong collaboration with vendors, customers, and internal teams. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s in engineering or related field, 5+ years in quality (3+ years automotive), and knowledge of Six Sigma,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of quality-related experience; automotive manufacturing experience preferred (3 years).
• Knowledge in statistical analysis, precision measurement, process capability studies, Six Sigma and industrial processes.

Responsibilities

• Drives the development and implementation of a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standards.
• Implements, revises and updates the Quality Management Manual and related instructions/forms.
• Develops a Supplier Quality Index and reviews/approves all PPAPs from vendors.
• Leads internal, third-party and customer audits and coordinates corrective actions.
• Oversees sample submissions, PPAP paperwork, and APQP meetings.
• Represents the company in quality and environmental discussions with vendors and customers.

Job Overview

Assist in the development and maintenance of a system to assure that all products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Drives the development and implementation of a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standards.
  
• Implements, revises and updates the Quality Management Manual to incorporate statistical control programs, as well as all work instructions/forms.
• Develops and maintains a Supplier Quality Index to assure that only high-quality vendors are retained. Reviews and approves all PPAPs from vendors.
• Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and Company personnel to discuss and resolve quality and environmental issues as required. Represents Scherdel SST.
• Prepares and represents the organization during internal audits, third-party audits, and customer audits.
  
• Prepares accurate and timely reports of all audit findings which are representative of the quality performance of the item under audit, to enable the company to maintain its quality system.
• Assists departments with the coordination of audit information and recommends appropriate data-gathering mechanisms, procedures, etc.
• Full responsibility for approval of all sample submissions of new products and engineering changes, PPAP paperwork and participates in APQP meetings.
• Leads cross functional team for all corrective actions and oversees implementation.

• Sets quality objectives and related training.
• Works according to Scherdel’s quality and environmental system requirements, and customer quality requirements.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering,quality, manufacturing, or related technical field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of quality related experience required; three years of which in the automotive manufacturing industry.
  
• Knowledge in statistical analysis, precision measurement, process capability studies, mathematics, Six Sigma, and industrial processes are essential for this position.
