Job summary

Derby Fabricating, LLC is seeking a Quality Manager to sustain the plant's Quality Management System and provide leadership to quality support personnel. You will work daily with the plant manager on quality activities, oversee APQP/PPAP, lead continuous improvement, and coordinate with customers and suppliers on quality matters.

Responsibilities include audits, calibration processes, data reporting to Corporate Quality Manager, and ensuring a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Working knowledge of AIAG core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Interpret and understand blueprints.
  • Skilled with calipers, micrometers, drop gages, Micro Vue, steel rules.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organization and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a deadline-driven environment; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day interaction with plant manager on Quality-related activities.
  • Lead APQP and PPAP activities and ensure proper documentation.
  • Provide reports of quality information to Corporate Quality Manager.
  • Maintain clean, organized quality work area and records.
  • Complete special projects as requested and participate in continual improvement.
  • Facilitate rejected material handling and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Conduct process and system audits; lead calibration activities.
  • Interact with customers and suppliers on quality matters; train staff.
  • Hire, train, manage, and counsel quality personnel.
  • Perform product audits and measure for process capability.

Description

Sustain the Derby Fabricating Quality Management System within the manufacturing plant. Provide direction to the quality support personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day interaction with the plant manager on Quality-related activities
  • Advanced Production Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities
  • Provides reports of Quality information to the Corporate Quality Manager
  • Ensures that the Quality work area is clean, organized, and documents are properly maintained
  • Completes special projects as requested
  • Facilitates the rejected material and corrective/preventive action process
  • Participates in continual improvement activities
  • Assumes the role of ISO/TS16949 plant management representative
  • Interacts with customers and suppliers concerning Quality Activities
  • Calibration Systems
  • Process and System Audits
  • Hiring, training, managing, and counseling of employees
  • Perform product audits
  • Measure product for process capability studies
  • Conducts studies/audits using laboratory equipment
  • Assists with calibration
  • Completes special and miscellaneous projects

Requirements

Job Requirements
  • Experience in manufacturing environment, preferably within automotive industry
  • Working knowledge of AIAG core tools, e.g. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
  • Proficiency with with Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Interpret and understand blueprints
  • Skilled in the use of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, drop gages, Micro Vue, and steel rules
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Self-motivated, ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
