Job summary

Tenneco is seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer to ensure that customer requirements are met through rigorous quality systems in a manufacturing environment. This role emphasizes advanced quality planning, cross-functional teamwork, and maintaining critical quality documents.

The candidate will conduct root-cause analysis using DOE, ANOVA, and regression, lead MRB activities, and drive corrective actions with suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory manufacturing experience and ISO/TS 16949 knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of SPC, DOEs, FMEAs, Control Plans and capability analyses.
  • Proficient with Minitab and problem solving methods (G8D, PRR, 7 Step, 3L5W, Deep Drill).

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced quality planning for products and processes.
  • Maintain and update control documents (PFMEA, Control Plans, SOPs).
  • Act as customer liaison and communicate containment and corrective actions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis using DOE, ANOVA, and regression.
  • Promote quality awareness and report on quality metrics.
  • Manage MRB disposition of quarantined material.
  • Prepare training for employees on quality systems.
  • Participate in ISO audits and quality system improvements.
  • Review websites and report discrepancies.

Job description

General Function:
To provide technical knowledge of customer requirements and needs, to ensure the Quality systems are implemented, maintained and adhered to in such a manner as to ensure that customer expectations are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Active participation in Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) for products and processes in assigned areas.
  • Regulate and update the process control documents in assigned areas
    (i.e. Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, Product and Process Inspection Plan, Measurement system work instruction).
  • Act asCustomer liaison. Communicate containment and corrective actions to the customer using the applicable method (i.e. G8Ds, PRR, NCT, eCIMS, SCAR, F-M TiPS).
  • Coordinate special containment activities at the customer site and follow up on results until permanent corrective action validation.
  • Initiate and lead a cross-functional team to effectively identify root cause analysis on all internal and/or external problems. Conduct corrective action follow-up, as well as lessons learned read-across on similar processes/products.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on all internal and/or external problems using statistical problem solving methods (i.e. D.O.E., ANOVA, Regression Analysis) to prevent its re-occurrence.
  • Communicate to plant personnel of quality related issues through Quality Awareness Bulletin (QAB), as well as promote quality awareness throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Lead or participate in the process of collecting, analyzing and summarizing scrap, rework and warranty data. Manage continuous review and research of product/process Quality improvements in assigned area to positively impact such indicators.
  • Lead the MRB (Material Review Board). Analyze and disposition of quarantined material.
  • Write and update standard operational procedures including special characteristics that control our Quality Assurance and Measurement Systems.
  • Weekly review of Customer specific websites (Covisint, GM Supply Power, Chrysler eSupplier Connect, PLEX). Identity and report discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Provide training to employees in assigned area to improve QOS.
  • Active participation on Internal, Customer and ISO TS/16949 Audits.Quality planning, assurance and implementation associated with engineering changes (ECRs).
  • Develop and maintain Layered Process Audits (LPA) and Error-Proofing Validation (EPV) lists in assigned areas.
  • May be given certain authority within job scope by Manager
  • Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent a violation of the Federal-Mogul Integrity Policy.
  • All employees will abide by the plant’s safety policy, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself.

Bachelors Degree in related field or 5+ years experience in quality related field

Mandatory experience must be in a manufacturing environment. Must haveISO/TS 16949 experience. A thorough understanding of advanced SPC, D.O.E.’s, FMEA’s, Control Plans, Process/Product capability analysis, APQP, and Specific Customer Requirements. Minitab Statistical Software Preferred but not Required.
Must have strong interpersonal skills to work well with customers and other engineers and operators. Must have a thorough understanding ofproblem solving methodologies (G8D, PRR, 7 Step, 3L5W, Deep Drill and Wide).Must be familiar with Microsoft computer platforms and software.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to train/teach others.
