Job summary

LeoForce in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the quality function for pressure vessels, COPV tanks, and propulsion hardware for space and defense programs. You will ensure conformance to customer requirements, AS9100, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include MRB disposition, driving 8D/5-Why corrective actions, defining inspection points, leading FMEAs and SPC, and maintaining QMS compliance. This is an onsite role focused on flight-critical hardware.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of quality experience in aerospace manufacturing, preferably with pressure vessels, COPV, or propulsion hardware.
  • U.S. Person status required; ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance if required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions using 5-Why, fishbone, and 8D methods.
  • Establish inspection requirements, process controls, and control plans for pressure-critical hardware.

Job Details

As Quality Manager you will lead the quality function for pressure vessels, COPV tanks, and propulsion hardware supporting space and defense programs, ensuring conformance to customer, AS9100, and regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as an active Material Review Board member — disposition nonconforming hardware as scrap, rework, or use-as-is in accordance with internal and customer requirements.
  • Drive corrective and preventive action using 5‑why, fishbone, and 8D methodologies to eliminate repeat nonconformances.
  • Establish inspection requirements and mandatory inspection points, approve manufacturing routings, and develop customer inspection and control plans for pressure‑critical hardware.
  • Lead FMEAs, track quality performance trends, and conduct statistical analysis (SPC) to support KPIs and QMS compliance.
Looking for

U.S. Person status required (ITAR); ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance if required

5+ years of quality experience in aerospace manufacturing, ideally with pressure vessels, COPV, or propulsion hardware

Bachelor's degree preferred; Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred

Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and controls: machining, heat‑treat, welding, and NDT (penetrant and X‑ray)

Strong blueprint and technical data interpretation; experience with OEMs and regulatory agencies

Lean/process improvement experience required

Experience in any of the following areas welcomed
  • Pressure vessel, COPV, or propulsion hardware quality
  • MRB and hardware dispositioning
  • FMEA, PPAP, and control plan development
  • Root cause / corrective action (5‑why, fishbone, 8D)
  • SPC and statistical analysis
  • Filament winding, composites, or weld inspection
  • Supplier quality and flow‑down management
