Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a Quality Manager to lead our Quality Management System (QMS) and quality assurance operations for aerospace manufacturing. The role ensures compliance with AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001, drives continuous improvement, and leads audit programs across the organization.

As part of the leadership team, you will mentor QC inspectors and quality engineers, collaborate with procurement on supplier quality, and report on key metrics to executive management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of quality engineering/management experience in aerospace/defense manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Proven problem-solving experience: Root Cause Analysis, 8D, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, ITAR compliance, and customer special process approvals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enforce the Quality Management System (QMS) per AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001.
• Lead internal quality audits and act as primary contact for customer, certification bodies, and regulatory audits (FAA/AS9100).
• Mentor and train QC inspectors, quality engineers, and calibration technicians.
• Collaborate with procurement to evaluate and manage supplier quality.
• Apply Lean/Six Sigma tools to drive continuous improvements, reduce defects, and optimize inspection workflows.
• Establish, track and report key quality metrics to executive management.

Quality Manager

$100,000 - $130,000 / year (commensurate with experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Manager to lead and oversee our Quality Management System (QMS) and quality assurance operations. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our high-precision aerospace manufacturing processes meet stringent customer requirements, regulatory compliance, and industry standards including AS9100 and ISO 9001.

As a core member of our leadership team, you will drive continuous improvement, lead internal and external audit programs, and foster a culture of quality excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, evolve, and enforce the Quality Management System in accordance with AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001 standards (QMS Oversight & Compliance).
• Lead internal quality audits and act as the primary point of contact for customer, third-party certification bodies, and regulatory agency audits (FAA/AS9100). (Audit Management).
• Manage, mentor, and train Quality Control (QC) inspectors, quality engineers, and calibration technicians. (Team Leadership).
• Collaborate with procurement to evaluate, audit, and manage key suppliers and supply chain quality compliance. (Supplier Quality).
• Utilize Lean / Six Sigma tools to drive continuous process improvements, optimize inspection workflows, and reduce defect rates/scrap. (Process Improvement).
• Establish, track, and report on key quality metrics (Cost of Quality, Scrap/Rework rates, First Pass Yield) to executive management. (Key Performance Indicators).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of quality engineering/management experience in the aerospace and defense manufacturing sector.
• Standard Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge and working experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Problem Solving: Proven expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies (Root Cause Analysis, 8D, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC).
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FAA regulations, ITAR compliance, and Customer Special Process approvals.

Certifications (Preferred)

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Manager (CQM)
• AS9100 Lead Auditor certification
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
