Job summary

Electric Machinery Company, a division of WEG Electric Corp., in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a Quality Intern to support the Quality and Continuous Improvement department. You will assist with analysis of manufacturing processes and quality systems and present a final project showing the value added during the internship.

The role involves collaboration with CI leaders, shop floor engagement, and participation in Kaizen events to drive practical improvements.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
• Pursuing BS/MS in Industrial or Quality Engineering/Management at an accredited college/university.
• Coursework in Total Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing/Enterprise, Value Stream Mapping, Manufacturing Flow Analysis & Layout, and Operations Planning and Control preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Power BI).
• Experience with CAD software for 2D layouts or 3D drawings (AutoCAD, Creo or SolidWorks).
• Energetic, organized self-starter; able to manage multiple priorities with mentor guidance.
• Strong written and verbal communication and people skills.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Work with Lean CI program manager and manufacturing leaders to identify inefficiencies and improve productivity.
• Engage directly with shop floor employees to identify problems and opportunities.
• Participate in Kaizen events and lead small projects to develop and implement solutions.
• Perform related activities as directed by CI Manager.
