Loram Maintenance of Way, Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer Intern in Minnesota to gain hands-on exposure in quality engineering. You will participate in NCR reviews, root cause analysis, supplier quality activities, and SOP maintenance while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive improvements.

The role emphasizes data-driven problem solving, support for audits, and contributions to Lean/Six Sigma initiatives in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Internship in quality engineering or related field preferred.
• Basic understanding of quality tools and problem-solving.
• Willingness to learn and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Attention to detail and data-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the review and analysis of NCRs and corrective actions.
• Support root cause analysis using 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Pareto charts.
• Participate in supplier quality activities and review supplier documentation.
• Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, and templates.
• Support collection and analysis of quality metrics (defect rates, first-pass yield).
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen).
• Assist in preparation for internal and external audits (ISO 9001 or other standards).
• Document findings and prepare reports for the Quality team and leadership.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations.
