Qualifications

Working Title: Electrical / I&C Inspector
Pay Rate: $110-$120/hr
Contract: 1-year base with two (2) 1-year option periods
Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance
About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a prime contractor supporting Savannah River Site (SRS) for a Principal Quality Control Engineer, working title Electrical / I&C Inspector. The position supports construction quality on the SPD/K-PuMP project and is responsible for supervising and directing quality control engineers who perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and maintenance activities.

In this role you will provide quality control support to construction management, direct personnel to implement quality requirements and accurately status results, and establish priorities that support construction and operations needs. The working title reflects the technical focus of the assignment: developing and executing Quality Control Inspection Plans for electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance supporting project work and maintenance activities.
  • Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans for electrical and I&C scope, in accordance with design output documents, codes, and standards.
  • Perform field inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans, document results on the applicable inspection records, and issue Non-Conformance Reports as required.
  • Review product and process compliance with specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and review of supplied materials and equipment.
  • Establish priorities that support construction and operations needs, and resolve complex problems arising during implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
  • Review and approve subcontractor quality procedures and monitor adherence to those procedures.
  • Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing, and surveillance activities are performed.
  • Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers with other construction departments to ensure construction complies with site specifications and standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities and participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
  • Provide effective quality training programs, ensure assigned personnel are qualified for assigned tasks, and prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
  • Provide leadership that promotes efficient performance, safe work habits, timely exchange of information, and commitment to site policies.
Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8-10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or a related area. Equivalents considered: an Associate's degree and 10-12 years of practical experience, or a high school diploma and 12-16 years of practical experience. Well developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required. Certification in areas of responsibility is required, with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. An active clearance is not required to begin the assignment; the selected candidate will be notified when to apply based on specific work assignments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
  • Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months.

Duration: 1-year base contract with two (2) 1-year option periods. Option periods are not guaranteed and are executed at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Estimated Hours: 2,080 straight time + 600 overtime per year. Overtime is expected at times to meet deliverables, at the discretion of the manager.

Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM. A 40-hour work week is scheduled, excluding site holidays, with a 30-minute lunch each workday.

Work Location: 100% on-site in Aiken, SC. Local candidates, or candidates willing to relocate at their own expense.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required and must be approved in advance by the hiring manager.
