Job summary

Celeros Flow Technology in Houston is seeking a skilled inspector to manage a 5-person team on 2nd shift. You will perform visual and precision inspections of manufactured parts, verify GD&T compliance, and prepare NCRs as needed.

You will use CMM, ARMs, Keyence, and Quick Vision systems, interface with multiple internal departments, and ensure adherence to drawings and ITPs while training Level I staff.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of inspection experience in manufacturing.
  • Certification in Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, or CWI preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience with SAP is required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and mechanical inspections to ensure conformance with drawings and standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools (calipers, height gauge, micrometers, surface plate, ARMs, optical comparator).
  • Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and process per procedures.
  • Document nonconformances in SAP NCR module.
  • Review received materials from vendors and witness internal testing procedures.
  • Interpret and execute an Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
  • Interface with third-party inspectors as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training to Level I inspectors.
  • Handle other duties assigned by supervisor.

Job description

NACE Level II Coatings required. The position will manage a team of 5 employees; supervisory experience required.

Location: Houston, Westplain Campus

Work Schedule/Hours: 2nd shift (1:30 pm - 10 pm)
Pay Range: The base pay range for this position is $33–36/hour plus shift differential and quarterly bonus (based on achieving goals).

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing visual and precision instrument inspection of manufactured parts for dimensional and GD&T. Specialized inspections using CMM, Portable arm, Portable Scanner, for compliance with drawing requirements. In performing your work, you will interact with multiple internal departments including Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Accounting, and Shipping/Receiving. You may also work with external contractors. Daily workflow is assigned by the Quality Supervisor and/or based on project demands.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performing visual, mechanical inspection of purchased or manufactured parts, in process or finished, to determine if the parts conform to specifications, drawings, designated codes and standards.
  • Using precision measuring and testing equipment, including calipers, height gage, micrometres, surface plate, Articulated ARM, and optical comparator to perform mechanical inspections.
  • Preparing a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) for any part that does not meet specified requirements and processing it per established procedures.
  • Document nonconformances in SAP- NCR module where needed and complete the transactions in SAP.
  • Review and verification of materials received from vendors.
  • Witnessing internal testing procedures to verify accuracy of results.
  • Interpreting and executing an Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
  • Interfacing with third-party inspectors to verify completion of required customer requests.
  • Handling other assigned work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by your immediate supervisor.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to Level I inspection personnel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experienced in use of precision inspection equipment (ex., mics, callipers. Etc) to measure dimensional details as listed on drawings.
  • Knowledge in reading & interpret blueprints, including GD&T.
  • Experience in using and programming of Articulated ARMs is required.
  • Experience in using and programming of CMM, Keyence, or Quick Vision systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques, test equipment and procedures, and assembly applications.
  • Use of hand and power tools.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with SAP (Required)
  • Knowledge of the valve industry is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast-paced and demanding.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Self-directed with excellent initiative.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
  • Proven ability to execute tasks with drive and energy to deliver on time to deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
Education and Experience
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certification in Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, or CWI (Preferred)
