Job summary

Celeros Flow Technology in Houston, TX is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to lead supplier qualification, audits, and development activities within the Global Sourcing team. The role partners with Category Managers, plant Purchasing, Engineering, and Project teams to ensure supplier quality and performance.

Requirements include a engineering degree, 3–10+ years in supplier quality and external audits, ASQ CQE preferred, and SAP/ERP experience.

• 3–10+ years of supplier quality and external audit experience.
• ASQ CQE or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with total quality, Six Sigma or similar systems.
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems; SAP knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and qualify suppliers with Category Managers and sourcing teams.
• Approve 1st article and/or first production batch when warranted.
• Conduct new and annual supplier audits per QMS directives.
• Verify quality improvement programs for poor-performing suppliers.
• Measure KPIs: non-conformance costs, LEAN, on-time delivery.
• Review MRB inputs and supplier NCRs; drive NCR closures.
• Perform root-cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions.
• Participate in pre-purchase order reviews for key components.
• Attend weekly supplier calls and ensure regulatory compliance.

Join the growth our team is experiencing as a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)!

Location: Houston, Westplain Campus

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for all supplier qualification and development related activities with their assigned scope of suppliers including supplier audits, supplier process reviews, hold points and witness points, non-conformance management at supplier, identification and implementation of supplier development activities, supplier technical capability assessment and enhancement. This role will report to the Global Sourcing team and will work closely with the Category Management teams, Purchasing teams at plant, Engineering and Project teams, liaising with all current and future potential suppliers for their assigned scope.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate and qualify suppliers in conjunction with the Category Managers and the Celeros sourcing teams.
• Support the supplier through the approval of 1st article and/or approval of 1st production batch, as warranted.
• Conduct new supplier audits and annual supplier audits for existing suppliers per the Quality Management System directives.
• Verify quality improvement programs for poor-performing suppliers.
• Measure and manage Key Performance Indicators including cost of non-conformance, continuous process improvement (LEAN objectives) and on-time delivery.
• Review of MRB (Material Review Board) inputs & Supplier NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
• Chase down & action certification NCRs to closure.
• Data analysis of supplier non-conformance.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and liaise with vendors to implement corrective actions.
• Involvement in pre-purchase order placement review of key critical components.
• Attend weekly supplier calls.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and agreed-upon strategy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and specifications.
• Must be technically knowledgeable and capable of understanding engineering and quality concepts.
• Basic knowledge of auditing, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies such as ISO9001 & API Q1, Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, Six Sigma, SPC, Kaizen, and process mapping.
• Proficiency using monitoring and measurement equipment to provide evidence of product conformity.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels, both internally and with the supply base.
• Outstanding time management and follow-through skills.
• The ability to multitask and learn independently in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to achieve goals independently and contribute as a team player.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility.
• Machining or valve manufacturing experience preferred.

Education and Experience

• A bachelor's degree, ideally in Engineering. Will consider equivalent work experience.
• 3-10+ years of experience, including direct supplier quality and external audit experience.
• ASQ CQE or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in total quality, Six Sigma, or other similar systems.
• Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment. SAP knowledge and experience preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills.
• A CIPS, CPM, or APICS certification is helpful but not required.

Pay Range: The base pay range for this position is $80,000 - 105,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
