Job description

We are seeking an experienced Quality Lead to manage a team responsible for quality assurance and quality control throughout the design, construction, and project closeout phases. This role will ensure work is performed safely, in accordance with approved plans and specifications, and meets established quality standards and project requirements.

The Quality Lead will serve as a key point of coordination between engineering, design, construction teams, third-party inspectors, and testing organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Design Phase

• Review engineering drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and related project documents.
• Identify potential design, constructability, or build errors before construction begins.
• Establish clear inspection points, quality-control procedures, and testing requirements.
• Coordinate with designers and engineering teams regarding material selections and quality requirements.
• Provide quality-focused input to help prevent issues before they reach the construction phase.

Construction Phase

• Lead and manage the quality team responsible for day-to-day project oversight.
• Conduct daily site inspections, quality checks, and safety audits.
• Coordinate and manage third-party testing agencies, inspectors, and other quality-related resources.
• Immediately identify and address unsafe, non-compliant, or poor-quality work.
• Stop work when necessary to prevent unsafe conditions or unacceptable quality issues.
• Track deficiencies, corrective actions, failed inspections, and outstanding quality issues through resolution.
• Work closely with construction management and field teams to maintain project quality and schedule requirements.

Documentation & Project Closeout

• Review and maintain weld logs, concrete testing records, material certifications, inspection reports, and other quality documentation.
• Ensure required quality records are accurate, complete, and properly maintained throughout each phase of construction.
• Maintain official project quality files and documentation for audit and closeout purposes.
• Support the development and completion of project punch lists.
• Verify that outstanding quality issues and deficiencies are resolved before final project handover.
• Assist with final quality documentation and closeout activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction quality assurance/quality control, engineering, inspection, or a related field.
• Experience leading or supervising quality personnel and coordinating third-party inspectors or testing agencies.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of construction inspection, testing, documentation, and quality-control processes.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to identify deficiencies, enforce quality standards, and drive corrective actions to completion.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with engineering, design, construction, and subcontractor teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or government construction projects.
• Familiarity with welding inspection, concrete testing, material certifications, and construction quality documentation.
• Experience with project closeout and punch-list management.
