Job summary

Novelis is seeking a Quality Lab Technician for its Bay Minette, Alabama facility. The role ensures aluminum products meet quality standards through process and product testing and supports qualification trials and customer claims.

The candidate will perform chemical and metallography analyses, maintain safety protocols and participate in ISO and environmental compliance activities within a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work as scheduled (including overtime, weekends and holidays).
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Associates degree in STEM/technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be a role model for safety; align with Safety Absolutes and Principles to build a zero-injury culture.
• Ensure personal safety and that of colleagues; use PPE.
• Support EHS initiatives like Gemba walks and chemical inventory audits.
• Preserve the environment and align with ISO and other standards.
• Conduct mechanical and chemical testing of in-process, raw materials and finished metals to ensure specs.
• Perform chemical analysis of mill coolants and chemicals; conduct metallography testing.
• Adhere to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016 and ASI where applicable.
