Job summary

Vesuvius North America is seeking a Quality Lab Technician in Ohio to support Analytical Chemists in sample preparation, standard-making, and instrumentation.

You will conduct chemical tests, prepare solutions, monitor product quality, and document results, contributing to a safe, accurate analytical workflow within the plant environment in Conneaut, OH.

Strong attention to detail, basic chemistry knowledge, and the ability to work with limited supervision are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 1-3 years' lab experience.
• Knowledge of chemistry and mathematics.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical/physical tests to support chemists in qualitative/quantitative analyses.
• Maintain and sterilize lab equipment.
• Set up experiments and prepare samples following standard methods.
• Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with standards.
• Prepare chemical solutions and record results accurately.

Quality Lab Technician

Purpose

To support the Analytical Chemist and Chemist in sample preparation for analysis. Assist with standard-making and instrumentation.

Dimensions Of Position

• Safe operation of the Analytical Lab and improvement of the plant safety culture
• Timely, accurate, and precise chemical analysis

Key Result Areas

• Conduct chemical or physical laboratory tests to assist chemist in making qualitative or quantitative analyses of materials.
• Maintain, clean, or sterilize laboratory instruments or equipment.
• Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses, using techniques such as grinding, cleaning of glasswork, and sample preparation.
• Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
• Prepare chemical solutions for products or processes, following standardized formulas, or create experimental formulas.
• Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards - using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
• Documenting/Recording Information
• Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience

• 1-3 years' experience working in a lab environment

Knowledge

• Chemistry - Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
• Mathematics - Knowledge of basic arithmetic
