ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs process control testing including salt spray testing and paint adhesion testing (both wet and dry adhesion).
• Calculates etch rates on alkaline etch tanks daily and deoxidizer tanks weekly.
• Performs solution analysis on all process tanks as needed.
• Calculates and makes additions to tanks to maintain proper concentrations.
• Performs coating weight test on chemical conversion (chem film) tank.
• Disperses coupons bi-weekly to heat treat.
• Polishes and processes 7075 IA coupons for IGA tests.
• Mixes copper sulfate solution for passivation testing.
• Tests salt spray solution from collection cylinders.
• Calibrates pH meter.
• Performs daily accuracy checks on ohaus analytical balance.
• Performs titrtion analysis of chemical concentrations.

NON ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains laboratory following standard practices.
• Orders and maintains stock for chemicals and supplies.
• Adds chemicals to tanks as needed.
• Maintains solutions analysis logs.
• Maintains and monitors inventory of lab chemicals.
• Mounts, polishes, and etches metallurgical samples as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment required.
• Minimum of 6 months previous experience in at least one discipline of chemical processing.
• Ability to apply basic math, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with management and co-workers; listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering specifications.
• Proficient knowledge of and be able to operate the software and equipment used in the department. Software includes but is not limited to Microsoft Word. Computer skills must include ability to type and manage files.
• Ability to safely and properly use calipers and other tools and equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds with assistance.
• Must be able to wear proper PPE including face shield, cut protection, and apron.
• Ability to identify proper materials and supplies according to specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
• Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.
