Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Chemical Technician for the 1st shift in South Plainfield, NJ. The role ensures product quality and safety compliance, performing wet chemistry testing and maintaining ISO 9001 standards across materials and finished goods. You’ll manage specs in the QMS, support lab-production collaboration, and contribute to continuous improvements.

The position is contract to hire, onsite in a lab environment with 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Experience in GMP environment with quality and documentation procedures.
• Hands-on chemical testing in a laboratory setting.
• Strong wet chemistry techniques and raw material testing methods.
• Ability to maintain data in a QC database and quality management system.
• Attention to detail in labeling, recording test results, and validating specs.
• Ability to identify errors and take corrective actions.
• Strong communication to convey safety topics and quality issues.
• Ability to lead weekly safety meetings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare safety topics and lead weekly safety meetings in the lab.
• Ensure product quality and ISO 9001 adherence in testing and documentation.
• Perform chemical testing and cover additional lab areas when needed.
• Monitor QC database and release test results promptly and accurately.
• Identify personnel-related issues and communicate resolutions to leadership.
• Retrain team members to address lab and production errors and mislabeling.
• Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurring sampling/testing errors.
• Enter new customer and product specs into the QMS and maintain specs.
• Validate C of A releases and ensure correct specifications are in place.
• Initiate spec requests when none exist for a product/customer.
• Monitor raw materials in quality inspection and release materials timely.
• Resolve raw material specification issues with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with production to support blending and testing.
• Maintain records for testing, inspections, and spec changes per GMP.
