Job summary

Reyes Automotive Group in Texas is seeking a Quality Intern to directly support the Quality Management team in daily tasks and assist in bringing new products from concept to production. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering from an accredited university.
• Mechanical Engineering accepted if a Manufacturing career path is shown.
• GPA minimum of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
• Six Sigma training/certification is a plus.
• Fundamentals of Industrial Engineering course is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in product launch activities, including process trials, pre-production builds, and launch reviews.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure smooth transition from development to production.
• Develop and document inspection standards, sample data sheets, gage instructions, control plans and other documents.
• Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for issues identified during launch.
• Coordinate equipment for new product introduction.
• Lead and develop projects with minimal supervision and complete within time frames.
• Create and maintain databases to generate weekly reports.
• Participate in internal audits and process improvement initiatives.
• Present findings, recommendations, and project updates to management as required.
• Provide data-based recommendations utilizing technical and engineering knowledge.

Job Summary

The Quality Intern will work closely with experienced professionals to support launch activities and contribute to the success of our organization.

Main Duties And Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned)

• Assist in product launch activities, including process trials, pre-production builds, and launch reviews.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure smooth transition from development to production.
• Support the development and documentation of inspection standards, sample data sheets, gage instructions, control plans and other documents.
• Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for issues identified during launch.
• Contribute to the coordination of equipment for new product introduction.
• Lead and develop projects with minimum supervision from the management team, and complete projects within the given time frame.
• Create and maintain databases to generate weekly reports.

Requirements

Education:

• Have or be working to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, from an accredited university.
• Applicants with or working to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering accepted only if they demonstrate a Manufacturing career path.

Experience

• For Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering students, Fundamentals of Industrial Engineering course is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
• Training and/or certification in 6 Sigma is a plus.

Computer Skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and in the use of e-mail, web browser applications.
• Basic CAD/2D Drawing skills (SolidsWorks, AutoCAD, ProE).

Mathematical Abilities

• Intermediate-advanced math skills.
• Working knowledge of Statistics and Quality Control tools.

Analytical Or Reasoning Abilities

• Basic knowledge of injection and blow molding processes.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem solving, and planning skills.
• Critical thinking ability required with orientation for continuous improvement.
• Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions.
• Ability to effectively prepare business and technical documentation such as procedures, reports, presentations, etc.

Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)

• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Highly effective, articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels in the organization and across cultures.
• Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements

• 50% of the time will be spent doing desk-related work on a computer and working with basic office equipment (PC, fax and printer, phones) while the remaining 50% will be spent on the production floor completing work related to the position.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds individually and team lift 50 pounds.
• Able to work in an environment that is climate controlled but is exposed to potential heat, rain, and cold.
• Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

Must wear all personal protective equipment where required.
