Reporting to the Site Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector ensures the highest level of quality and performance on Utility Scale Renewable Energy projects. The Quality Inspector is responsible for conducting regular quality assurance (visual inspections, nondestructive examinations, compliance tests, etc.) and ensuring quality control is being satisfactorily performed by responsible contractors to maintain integrity and safety of installations. The overall objective of this position is to ensure project quality requirements in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and any other disciplines of construction required for the site are met. Records and reports inspections and findings. Reports any non-conformance to Quality Manager.
This position will be based Onsite.
Skills/Experience
Planning
- Review and become familiar with the project technical requirements found in the Agreements, scope of work exhibits, design drawings, applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
Quality Control Inspections
- Perform routine inspections and observe construction activities through phases of construction to identify and address quality issues. Inspections may include civil, structural, electrical, and subsurface equipment installation.
- Flag deficiencies and maintain an issues list to track all deficiencies throughout construction.
- Develop and recommend effective solutions to improve overall quality.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure the Contractor is following the Site-Specific Quality Plan.
- Ensure that all installations comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with Site Safety Manager to integrate safety protocols into quality control processes.
- Report any unsafe act or activity to the Site Safety Manager.
Training and Education
- Provide guidance and training to project teams on quality control procedures and best practices, with a focus on promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Communication
- Ensure and understand that site team does not provide direction to the EPC, rather observe, and suggest recommended changes based on the EPC contractual agreement and industry best practices.
- Explain quality control measures, address concerns, and provide regular updates on project quality performance.
Documentation and Reporting
- Generate clear and comprehensive reports to share with project teams and management.
Qualifications
- Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven quality inspection experience in the renewable energy industry preferred.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contract exhibits.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems and components, installation practices, and quality standards.
- Skilled in industry standards, codes, and regulations related to PV, BESS, wind, and substation construction.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify potential quality issues and risks.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook etc.
- Understand tools and equipment calibration procedures.
- Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices.
Experience & Education
- HS Diploma or GED required
- 3 years of related experience
- Knowledge of construction safety requirements
