Job summary

EIMCo is seeking a Quality Inspector in Farley, IA to perform first-piece, in-process and final inspections in a manufacturing setting. You will calibrate inspection tools, train staff, and assist with blueprint interpretation to ensure adherence to customer quality requirements.

Responsibilities include conducting 1st article inspections and PPAPs, maintaining accurate records in ERP, and following all Quality Manual procedures while maintaining a safe, clean work area.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical skills background required; welding experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, blueprints and customer quality documents.
  • Experience with first-piece, in-process and final inspections desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first-piece, in-process and final inspections per production demands.
  • Calibrate tools and inspection equipment; document results.
  • Train employees on using and caring for inspection equipment.
  • Assist interpretation of blueprints and customer quality documents.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot quality issues and concerns.
  • Operate and program CMM equipment; record results in ERP.
  • Complete daily records for parts inspected in Shop Travelers and ERP.
  • Follow EIMCo documentation: Ship Traveler, inspection sheets, blueprints.
  • Inform QC Manager and shift supervisor of problems with parts.
  • Conduct 1st article inspections and PPAPs as required.
  • Maintain quality of products/services per Quality Manual.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and report abnormalities.
  • Maintain clean, compliant workspace per 5S and PPE policies.

Job description

  • Perform First-Piece, In-Process, and Final Inspections following EIMCo production demands.
  • Calibrate tools and other inspection equipment and document results.
  • Train and instruct employees on using and caring for quality inspection equipment.
  • Assist employees in the interpretation of blueprints and customer-quality documents.
  • Investigate and assist in troubleshooting quality issues and concerns.
  • Operate and program CMM equipment.
  • Interpret and reference national and customer quality standards and requirements.
  • Complete accurate daily records (date, times, quantities of parts, and scrap) for every job inspected on Shop Travelers and in the ERP system.
  • Follow instructions from all EIMCo documentation, including Ship Traveler, Inspection Sheets, and blueprints.
  • Inform the Quality Control Manager and shift supervisor/lead person of any problems or concerns with parts.
  • Conducts 1st article inspections and PPAP's per the customer's requirements.
  • Accept responsibility for the quality of products/services provided and perform all required inspections under the EIMCo Quality Manual.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance on equipment, watch and listen for abnormal conditions, and immediately report any concerns to maintenance and/or shift supervisor/lead.
  • Maintain the assigned work area clean and orderly and comply with all 5S procedures. Safely conduct all tasks and behavior s and comply with all EICMo Safety Policies, including the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, as outlined in the EIMCo Safety Manual.
  • Maintain all required documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to routinely bend and squat.
  • Ability to routinely climb stairs, ladders and platforms.
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Education and Experience:
  • Mechanical skills background required. One to two years of welding experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred but not required. Formal education or experience may be substituted with training when competency in the position is demonstrated.
Working Conditions:
  • This is a safety sensitive position. This work is performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment processes. The temperature of the facility will vary based on the outside weather conditions. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance and may include overtime as deemed necessary by management.
