Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, is seeking an onsite Quality Inspector in Melbourne, FL. The role involves inspecting SMT and Through Hole products, documenting dimensional and visual results, and ensuring compliance with procedures.

Training on first shift may be required; second shift hours are 3:30 PM–2:00 AM, Monday–Thursday. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED with at least 2 years of relevant experience; familiarity with precision measuring equipment and basic shop

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED (US) or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with inspection procedures and quality requirements is preferred.
• Basic shop math and computer skills are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Inspects SMT and Through Hole products in the Process Center.
• Raises notifications of non-conformance and quarantines or routes for disposition.
• Performs dimensional and visual inspection using applicable procedures and data.
• Uses fixed or variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results.
• Performs pass/fail calculations based on tolerances and documents findings.
• Maintains inspection stamp and supports continuous improvement efforts.
• Coordinates training and adapts to shift requirements including overtime.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Hours: 2nd Shift (3:30PM-2:00AM). Monday-Thursday. Candidate must be able to train on 1st shift.

What You Will Do:

• Inspects SMT and Through Hole products in the Process Center.
• Raises notifications of non-conformance, quarantines non-conforming product and, when approved to do so, provides scrap or Standard Rework disposition.
• Work applicable written inspection procedures, drawings, and other pertinent instruction and/or Approved Technical Data to plan and perform dimensional and visual inspection on parts, tools and gages and other equipment, accepting material or referring for rework or quality review based on findings.
• May use fixed or variable measuring instruments where work instructions require checking dimensions and recording results.
• Perform simple mathematical computations to determine pass/fail results based on allowed tolerance.
• Follow proper procedures to perform inspection checks and verification of dimensions and make sure that Work Instructions are being followed.
• Recognize need and arrange for repair or calibration of measuring equipment used in performing the work as necessary.
• Support and promote continuous improvement activities to meet business objectives.
• Must maintain Inspection stamp.
• Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
• Flexibility around shifts for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
