Job summary

Collins Aerospace in North Carolina seeks a Receiving Inspector to ensure incoming materials meet PO, drawings, and quality standards. The role focuses on dimensional and visual inspection to prevent nonconforming materials from entering production and to maintain on‑time, quality flow.

You will follow inspection procedures, use measuring tools, perform pass/fail calculations, and coordinate with calibration or repair services as needed.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) with at least 2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform dimensional and visual inspection on parts, tools and gages per approved procedures and drawings.
• Use fixed or variable measuring instruments as required to check dimensions and record results.
• Compute pass/fail outcomes based on tolerances.
• Follow procedures to verify dimensions and ensure Work Instructions are followed.
• Arrange for repair or calibration of measuring equipment as needed.
• Support continuous improvement activities to meet business objectives.
• Maintain inspection stamp.
• Manage multiple priorities and shift work including overtime as needed.

The Receiving Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, components, and documentation to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements, engineering drawings, quality standards, and customer/regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in preventing nonconforming material from entering production and ensuring on-time, quality product flow.

What You Will Do:

• Work applicable written inspection procedures, drawings, and other pertinent instruction and/or Approved Technical Data to plan and perform dimensional and visual inspection on parts, tools and gages and other equipment, accepting material or referring for rework or quality review based on findings.
• May use fixed or variable measuring instruments where work instructions require checking dimensions and recording results.
• Perform simple mathematical computations to determine pass/fail results based on allowed tolerance.
• Follow proper procedures to perform inspection checks and verification of dimensions and make sure that Work Instructions are being followed.
• Recognize need and arrange for repair or calibration of measuring equipment used in performing the work as necessary.
• Support and promote continuous improvement activities to meet business objectives.
• Must maintain Inspection stamp.
• Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
• Flexibility around shifts for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
