Job summary

Helander Metal Spinning Company in Addison, IL is seeking a Quality Inspector II to perform full dimensional and visual inspection on precision aerospace components within an AS9100D quality system. You will interpret drawings and GD&T, support AS9102 First Article Inspection, and initiate nonconformance reports when something is off.

You'll work with calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height gauges, and there is a defined inspector ladder—Inspector II, III, and Senior Inspector/CMM

Qualifications

• 3+ years of dimensional inspection experience in a machining or precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation (ASME Y14.5).
• Proficiency with hand inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges).
• Accurate, disciplined documentation of inspection results.

Responsibilities

• Perform full dimensional and visual inspections independently using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height gauges.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Support AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) and document results.
• Initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and support disposition activities.
• Maintain inspection records and traceability per AS9100D requirements.
• Support in-process, receiving, and final inspection activities as assigned.

What we're looking for

Required:

• 3+ years of dimensional inspection experience in a machining or precision manufacturing environment
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation (ASME Y14.5)
• Proficiency with hand inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges)
• Accurate, disciplined documentation of inspection results

Preferred:

• AS9102 First Article Inspection experience
• CMM exposure (operation or basic programming)
• Aerospace, AS9100, or NADCAP experience

Pay, benefits and schedule

Pay: $28–$35/hr, commensurate with demonstrated inspection capability. Final level and pay are based on demonstrated competency, not tenure.

Schedule: Day shift, on-site.
