Position Type: Onsite (3rd Shift: Sunday-Thursday 11:30PM – 6:30AM)
Compensation: $27 - $31 per hour plus $0.75 per hour shift premium.
Job Summary
Join Collins Aerospace's Advanced Structures team as a Machinist/Inspector, performing inspection and measurement of aircraft parts and assemblies across all manufacturing stages to ensure quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
Responsibilities
- Inspect all machined parts, assemblies, tooling, and precision instruments for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and interchangeability.
- Operate magnetic and penetrant testing equipment and perform subsequent inspections.
- Conduct functional and operational checks of production, prototype, modified, and customer‑returned aircraft components.
- Investigate and determine dispositions on returned materials and components for FAA repairs.
- Inspect, calibrate, repair, adjust, and certify precision measuring instruments to required standards.
Qualifications – Must Have
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant inspection experience in manufacturing or aerospace.
- Experience performing inspections using blueprints and specifications.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
Qualifications – Preferred
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages).
- Experience setting up and aligning optical instruments and inspecting major tools and master gauges.
- Ability to use computer systems for data input and retrieval for inspections (e.g., SAP).
- Experience with laser trackers, portable CMM, CMM, photogrammetry, or similar technologies.
- Experience reviewing documents and identifying and resolving errors or missing information.
- 2+ years in an aerospace or similar inspection role.
